Changing of the guard

☛TS After 26 years on the bench, Judge J. Michael Brown retires
...Some civil attorneys made disqualifying Judge Brown their first order of business when dealing with any case, a simple yet affective way to avoid dealing with Brown's demands of expedience and preparedness.

”Some people didn't appreciate that,” Gallegos said of Brown's demanding judicial style. “But, what I will tell you is you knew the rules in Judge Brown's courtroom. If you weren't prepared to deal with the rules, fair enough, you could file a disqualification and try to stay away from Judge Brown. But, the truth was, he was fair.”

Brisso also said he never flinched in standing up for Brown's fairness.

When representing an insurance company some time back, Brisso said the question arose as to whether to waive a jury trial and let Brown decide the matter from the bench. Because some judges have a tendency to rule for the plaintiffs in such cases, Brisso said his client was concerned about leaving the matter to Brown.

”I just laughed and said, 'I've got so much confidence in Judge Brown's fairness that if his mother was on the other side, I'd still waive a jury trial and let Judge Brown decide it,'” Brisso recalled....

He'll be missed.

  1. Being a good judge is tough enough, but being a scrupulously fair judge in a small town is enormously difficult. Judge Brown managed to do both - be tough and fair.

Finally, I devote a significant amount of my professional life combating court delay. Judge Brown had the courage and tenacity to single handedly take this head on and actually turn it around in our local court. That is a huge accomplishment.

Kudos, Judge Brown, for a job well done !! And to be replaced by Joyce Hinrichs is a win-win.

  2. but Heinrichs does not. Look at the comments on the Sub Standard article.
How could Humboldt elect this "pollyanna" of a person as a judge. Has anyone up there ever read one of her insane rulings in Family Court. She looks at the world through rose colored glasses and refuses to see any reality. Litigants can sit in her court and lie through their teeth and she can't see it....Or as I suspect she like several other judges in that court house are making a killing deciding these cases not on their merit on in what is truly the "best interest of the child" but in what is in the best interest of Her pocketbook and the best interest of the Department of Child Support Services...as she does anything they ask whether it's legal or not!

I could not have said it better myself. Yes indeed, "In the interest of her pocket book" "As CPS requests" and also as the Mafia requests... When all the bad guys work together, that is a conspiracy, when it is illegal, it is a criminal conspiracy and when it is organized by criminals to benefit the criminals and their enterprise, that is RICO.

I do not know all the judges and their work habits in the Humboldt County court. I have heard that there are a few good ones, however I know this one, and her work habits well. There are many Attorneys who also know, but if they testified against her,the least of their problems would be loosing their livelihood....

The Marijuana Mafia is growing stronger by the minute and today, they had made a real show of it. This swearing in shows that there are no security screening or lawful oversight working in Humboldt County. I am so sad to even think about all the children she has devastated and all whom she has yet to devastate. Hindericks, Gallegos and Eichenberg among many others, made quite a team, intimidating children not to testify against criminals with/or connected to big Marijuana grow operations... Ah this is another new year but the players have switched around a bit...kind of like a baseball game or card game. Eichenberg went into County Counsel, Joan Gallegos (still scarring children in court) and now Hindricks is official Judge. Still the scene is the same. Mr. and Mrs. Gallegos have the DA's office handled they way the want, County service in their pocket or some may be too dumb to realize that when you break the rules/ or the law, its illegal and behind it, is an illegal purpose. Yes there are more because that's how the Mafia works. Away with the rules, away with the law. Nothing but **** and elbows for the rest of the show.

Is there a legal reason why Hindricks would require a campaign fund filled with money? Did she have a fund? Who contributed and I just can not recall who ran against her...

Oh those pesky little questions they just really get in the way, huh?

  3. No mention of who her brother in law is. Or who her father in law was. Do you think the Times Standard reporter doesn't know or is intentionlly leaving that out? I think it would make for a better story.

  4. Joyce is a great lady. When our daughters played softball together, she would play Spiderman with my son Devin. That's cool.

  5. Yes Mike I can see how that is an outstanding qualification to be a judge.

  6. Playing spiderman is right there with Tonka trucks in the dirt. It shows she is NOT arrogant or aloof and relates to people well.

Did I say she was qualified to be a judge? No

I said she is a great lady.

    What a moron!...
