Paul Gallegos is a Plagiarist?

It's tempting to say something flippant like "Plagiarism is not a victimless crime."

But there's just nothing funny about this.

When I posted Salzman's Plan for the Trust Fund, the idea was that their own words tell the story. You don't have to make up a conspiracy theory, which is what any criticism of Paul is said to be. The story is all there. In their own words. In their emailed communications, and quotes in articles in various publications. Lies and spin. Manipulating public opinion. I figured if people could see it for themselves, it might help them make an informed decision

Paul Gallegos lied to the Times Standard about the Trust Fund proposal, and about many other things. Sometimes, the lie is printed one day, and a few days later the different version of the truth is printed, and the reporter never questions the discrepancy. Because it is Paul.

Now, in the Times Standard's "My Word" op-ed forum, it is Gallegos' own words that do him in.
Or rather, his own choice to plagiarize the works of others that clearly demonstrate his dishonesty.

In the fullness of time, the full extent of the dishonesty, and the dishonest tactics that permeate Gallegos' tenure is being exposed, and will continue to be exposed.

He should resign.

  1. Rose, not three minutes ago I was thinking the same thing. Gallegos Should resign ! I.

It has always amazed me how the local press overlooks or is soo forgiving of Gallegos and his crew. But this last episode has exposed him in his own, MY WORD, column. His credibility shot and lack of integrity is getting the attention it deserves. The DA's office deserves better. Humboldt County deserves better.

  2. I don't think ALL the local press has been so fawning.

I can think of at least three local papers who didn't endorse the man, and have stepped up to document his many flubs.

  5. Yes. The North Coast Journal broke the story on Richard Salzman and his "Web of Lies," and the story of why Gallegos fired Allison Jackson. The Eureka Reporter also covered the story of Salzman's phony letters, and broke the story on the destruction of the Child Abuse Services Team and the abysmal drop in child abuse prosecution under Gallegos, the Gallegos failure to prosecute in the dog abuse case and Gallegos' plagiarized My Word's. The Arcata Eye saw through Gallegos' campaign spin, revealed details about Gallegos' unaccredited law school, and bucked the Salzman machine, as did The McKinleyville Press. They have all been vilified for it.

    I, for one, THANK YOU.
