Rumor is

The predatory litigious "Humboldt Baykeeper" is going after Sun Valley Bulb Farms.

Will they get go-away money? Or will Sun Valley stand up to the extortionists?

  1. Well I certainly hope that there isn't a lawsuit in order, but do realize that Sun Valley isn't exactly innocent of preventing some environmental damage.I remember a couple years ago when I took a class at CR and had a field trip their and when we walked into one of the rooms they were spraying so much crap that we had to leave.I felt sorry for the workers there who looked they were suffocating in their masks.
Not sure how much I trust these studies saying that the farm has led to increased cancer rates in the bottoms, but it's possible, and I'd much rather see the Baykeepers work with them to solve any problems instead of simply taking them to court and provide them with valuable information about how to run their business more well,eco-friendly I guess.

  2. They're a deep pocket, mresquan. Baykeeper needs money to pay for their lawyer and staff. there's only one way to get it.

  5. sun valley's lawyer?

the words "going after sun valley" is a little vague, thats why i ask.

is it a lawsuit? or an accusation of wrongdiong that could lead to some sort of remediation?

  6. Since when does "Baykeeper" remediate anything?

  7. Let me help you Theo Therme.
    Baykeeper = Jason Singleton

  12. i found more articles on the label "baykeeper lawsuits" under "older posts". there was plenty of mention of lawsuits "threatened", but how many were actaully filed? from the looks of this blogsite, the baykeeper group is all talk.

  13. Your missing something if you don't get this simple point--- baykeeper and their like are scum sucking vermen out to play the PR game on a stupid public while paying their way on the backs of producers or our public agencies. The group makes the depression era Flim-Flam-Man look like a saint. Theo, bad people are bad people no matter how sugar coated they come off.

  15. Theo, the Ecological Rights Foundation, which is the predatory litigious PARENT of the "Humboldt Baykeeper, has something like 17 lawyers on its payroll.

That is for one purpose and one purpose alone, to threaten to file, and to file lawsuits.

Often the threat is enough to get many hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, in GO-AWAY money. As in, it is cheaper to pay them off than to fight them in court.

"Baykeeper" is a "project" of ERF - the capital for "Baykeeper" comes from an ERF suit. If you read back you see the links to the story where they freely admit all this.

If they settle a lawsuit and the terms of the settlement forbid them from filing again within a set period of time, presumably setting up a new entity allows them to circumvent that agreement. ONe predatory group spawns another. It's a growth industry. And it is easier than robbing banks.

They didn't anticipate that someone would stand up to them, and fight them. That is happening now.

"Baykeeper" has one attorney as part of its limited "staff." If you can call her that. But it has access to the full ERF cadre, no doubt.

They are not about cleaning up the Bay. Not one little bit, but they use well meaning people as camo, convincing the people that they are participating in something good like bay cleanup. They hold concerts and Arts Alive! to attract converts for cover.

Never make the mistake of thinking the members mean anything. They are tools.

  16. but what lawsuits have they filed? can we see some evidence of "walk away money" being paid?

i understand that you dont like them, but im perplexed as to what this group has actually done to cause the hate.

  19. Theo - think Sierra Pacific, Marina Center, think what happened to the Flea Market by the Bay, now Sun Valley Bulb Farm, but curiously, not the tribe...

It's about deep pockets, politically correct targets with deep pockets.

The question is, who will they be using this time in the role of the professional victim? Singleton has his. Who will "Baykeeper" choose?

  20. so lets here the details of the sun valley bulb farm lawsuit....

    ReplyDelete
  21. i did some work for the bulb farm recently. i hope that the baykeepers arent after me!

  22. If you have real deep pockets, you might start worryin.'

Otherwise, you are assuredly safe, Theo.

    ReplyDelete
  23. theotherme - you are gonna have to wait for the details, but I assure you...Pete et al are talking about this.

  25. Fight back, Lane. Don't roll over.

  26. I'd be watching for little "Baykeeper" test sites to start appearing in their targeted area. And I'd be real sure I didn't miss any water board like meetings where they might pull another fast one like they did with having the bay declared impaired.

Predatory skunks. Scum of the earth. Dishonest crooks. Con men and liars.

    ReplyDelete
  27. we havent heard any details yet...do we really need to foam at the mouth over this before we hear the whole story??

    ReplyDelete
  28. Nope. No need for foaming at the mouth.

    Patience.

  29. Maybe a little of this daylight will head them off at the pass.
