The Top 10 Reasons why Paul Gallegos Needs to Step Down NOW

10. So he can spend more time at the Gym.

9. So he can spend more time Surfing.

8. He'll need to re-acquaint himself with his desk at Gallegos & Gallegos.

7. The Eureka Fair Wage Act will need his help.

6. His talents lie elsewhere, and why deny elsewhere anything more than a day.

5. It will give his employees an opportunity to see how the office should function.

4. He can't do Jason Warren, Timothy Littlefield, Juan Ferrer, Limmie Currie, Eddie Lee and who knows how many others in 5 months anyway, so why bother trying.

3. He hasn't been showing up in court anyway. He consciously made the decision in his mind that he no longer wanted this job quite a while ago, and then has been acting that way ever since.

2. The criminals know that right now is a great time to be a criminal. If he doesn't step down, crime will increase. (Heard on the street.)

1. These cases that he is royally screwing up actually have victims, who are torn apart and devastated and Paul Gallegos is adding to their victimization. If you don't believe me try talking to their family members.

  1. Keep the website Rose. You're going to need it beyond Jan 1

  2. Are you offering to keep it going?

    ReplyDelete
  3. No could replace Rose. But I'd expect it stays. Fleming won't improve the office and Rose won't let that go. And Salzman will always be there.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Yeah, Fleming's competence and work ethic will throw that place all out of whack.

    1. Maggie did a good job of hiding her lack of competence by keeping Arnie and Losey on offense. Effective but dishonest. I figure Firpo and Dollison will do quite well in private practice

  5. Anon 5:28 you and all of your other anons will never have the leverage that you are seeking because, number one) you don't use your names which people discount whatever you say, two) it is obvious with your comments that they come from snake venum, nothing positive which really hurts whichever candidate you are supporting. Get a clue, people don't like the negative vibes which you constantly put out there. I have said many times, anything I put here, I use my name and I am not ashamed of anything I said here. You CANNOT say the same, otherwise use your own name!

  8. Let us not forget Mr. Pendergrast who made sure Dollison stayed under 10 percent on his mission. He knew Dollison would never win. His sole purpose was in a deal to help Maggie over 50%. Salzman's got nothing on Maggie and her crew. I think I'd rather have Paul again.

  11. The bullshit from trolls didn't appear to hurt Fleming, but here they are, still spewing. Habit I suppose.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Anon 7:59 Dave Prendergast is an honorable veteran and has never used the uniform to further any personal "missions" as you put it. He simply pointed out the truth and some folks like you didn't like that???Well some truths must be told. As for you wanting Paul, you probably would have voted for Paul which says tons about you. Let's stop the negative and get behind our new District Attorney!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Prendergast is to Dollison as Swift Boat was to Kerry. Remember, he was fired by the City of Eureka for incompetence.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Mike. What about those who pointed to truths about your candidate? Destruction of CAST, etc. They were just pointing out facts, yeah?

As evidenced by the last five DA elections, the voters don't really care about competence.

    ReplyDelete
  15. give it up! fleming won. fleming will do a great job. give her a sliver of a chance and all but salzman and his posse will be impressed.

    ReplyDelete
  16. 6:35 even after victory, you cannot show class.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'll say this again, as long as they keep repeating it. The "destruction of CAST" claim was FALSE. And malicious.
Grand Jury Report 2004-5, dated 6/30/05, published 8/29/05 detailed declining CAST cases 2002-2004 and other DA problems. Gallegos 1st response (before 8/29/05)- no CAST director appointed yet but will be before 1/1/06. Gallegos late response, published with 05-06 grand jury, says "Our office assigned Deputy District Attorney, Maggie Fleming, to fulfill the responsibilities of a director position and to coordinate and make decisions about CAST. Deputy Fleming is an outstanding attorney who is both experienced in and dedicated to CAST."

    ReplyDelete
  18. And then after Fleming was put in charge they fell even further. She's elected. You can stop spinning to prop her up now.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 2:04, it seems to be 9:35 and you that are spinning. I just try to let people know when false claims are made and repeated. In 2006, when Gallegos had sabotaged CAST even further by taking away the OTHER specialized prosecutor and giving some of the work to amateurs (including himself - hanging P. Jiminez in 2005 for example), he still praised Maggie's work in CAST, as did Worth Dikeman, Allison Jackson, and later Rob Wade and Gillian Wadsworth.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Of course he was praising her. She was lying to cover his ass.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ok, you slanderous chickenshit anonymous weasel, document by reprinting or posting the link to one single false statement Fleming made to, as you so elegantly put it, "cover his ass".

And when you post your stupid reply, anonymously, keep in mind that unsubstantiated anonymous allegations have zero credibility. Not that credibility is a high priority for sad, pathetic losers.

  22. In 2004
    There were 146 CAST Interviews
There were 50 cases RECEIVED by the DAs office
There were 23 cases FILED by the DAs office

    In 2005
    There were 155 CAST Interviews
There were 35 cases RECEIVED by the DAs office
There were 17 cases FILED by the DAs office

    THEN MAGGIE TOOK OVER

In the first four months of 2006
There were 40 CAST Interviews (on track for 120 interviews)
There were 4 cases RECEIVED by the DAs office (on track for 12 cases received)
There was 1 case FILED by the DAs office.

  23. Maggie Flemming

Deputy District Attorney Maggie Flemming — who is the main person at the DA’s Office who prosecutes persons accused of child abuse — said the numbers The Eureka Reporter obtained did not reflect the work she has done so far this year.

However, because of The Eureka Reporter’s deadline and her schedule, she was unable to provide current information by press deadline.

(Editor’s note: The Eureka Reporter will publish a separate article tomorrow on CAST figures, comparing the information obtained by the newspaper to an interview with Deputy District Attorney Maggie Fleming, who is the CAST prosecutor – Jackson’s former post. In an effort to verify the figures obtained by The Eureka Reporter, the newspaper asked Gallegos to provide an annual report on the disposition for CAST cases. The District Attorney’s Office has yet to honor the newspaper’s request, even though it has provided other information in an interview and e-mails.)

  24. Some people just care about kids and are sad to see this office slip into Maggie's hands. Out of fuel and into the fire.

    ReplyDelete
  25. You people tried this and nobody bought it. It's not getting better for you. Ever.

    ReplyDelete
  26. We agree. No one has bought it for 12 years. The voters don't care. Competence is not a job requirement.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh, but it is now. Fleming won. Firpo lost.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Losey. Question. If Fleming wasn't in the race, who would you have endorsed?

    ReplyDelete
  29. 7:54 let us wait and see if there are actually changes but you can gloat for now.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Anon 3:32 The most qualified candidate after Maggie would have been Arnie, but since Maggie won, we don't have to go there now do we??? Get beyond it and give Maggie a chance, she does deserve it, don't you agree she did sweep this election?? Can you go there, are you able to be a big person, an adult and go past the election to now supporting the new District Attorney?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Mike Losey can you be a big man? There are opponent supporters that wished you well and are moving on. Did you respond in kind?

You continue to come here and accuse. The fact that you think Arnie is qualified shows you have no interest in a decent DA.

Maggie could have had more support. She could have run unopposed.

The fact that she had slime like you and Arnie and Mike Robinson singing her praises cost her support.

You are a petty man. The fact that Maggie continues to excuse your behavior makes me question if she is the same Maggie Fleming I respected.

Moving on is Maggie supporters not calling others losers .

This election was less about casting a vote for any DA candidate. More of an anti Paul and Salzman vote.

You, Mike, did nothing to claim a win.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anyone who thought Arnie was a choice for DA shouldn't be an opinion anyone should be concerned with,

    ReplyDelete
  33. Mr. Losey never said Arnie was qualified. What he said was that Arnie was more qualified than the other two. Which is a low bar to set, as the voters so emphatically stated. Maybe if the personal attacks on Mr. Losey ended, it would be part of the moving on process.

Moving on to look at where PVG is, whom has he been hiring, how is he proposing to spend the county's money, and just how focussed is he on leaving just as big a mess as he possibly can?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You work in the office since you use PVG. You supported Maggie and you think Arnie is more qualified than Elan and Allan. Your opinion is useless.

Arnie has no respect from law enforcement.

Arnie did well to be the attack dog and sling mud at Elan and Allan.

Arnie has no clues about issues, he couldn't get any endorsements or funds from any one that matters and he repeated the same shtick every time he opened his mouth.

You and Losey have not stopped dissing Allan and Elan. Show me where Maggie or any of her supporters have wished Allan or Elan well. Show me where any of Maggie's supporters have thanked those wishing Maggie well even though those people did not vote for Maggie.

Maggie and her supporters could not even handle the scrutiny of a campaign. How will you handle her being DA?

  34. The elections over, so why are there still people bashing folks and being shit heads? These people are now just Humboldt County residents so shut up about what you think of their qualifications for DA. Fuck! leave them alone....all of them....and leave each other alone. Grow up, support who is in office, regardless of who you voted for. I did not vote for maggie, but I hope she can do the task that is in front of her. But, if you all just remain tippy tap tapping behind your little screens talking shit we will continue to be divided and there will be no progress so get out in your community and do something or STFU! Oh an since y'all wanna talk like you have nothing to do....go pick up your fucking campaign signs...they are still all over the county and now they are no longer part of a campaign now they are simply litter and trash from a political race! Have some dignity and respect for your county and go pick up your trash!!!!!!

  35. 8:30, 8:43 and 8:44-
You are very selectively pulling out quotes from Rose's blog (which is not very nice to Rose), and in particular omitting what people in the know about CAST said about Fleming's work in 2006. Anyone who looks at the full post at http://watchpaul.blogspot.com/p/child-abuse-prosecutions_09.html and the grand jury report at http://watchpaul-articles.blogspot.com/2006/12/grand-jury-report-on-cast.html and Gallegos's response at co.humboldt.ca.us/grandjury/Reports/2004-2005/2004-05FinalReportResponse.pdf
will see a very different picture from the one you keep trying to paint. In reality, Fleming and others were doing their best to keep CAST going in spite of Gallegos's undercutting the program (all the while touting his "total commitment" to it).

8:43 where is the lie in this statement? Where is she covering for Paul? It looks to me that she is providing factual answers to a reporter's question and saying that the 2006 stats (source not disclosed)cited do not agree with her own records of that year to date.
I hope someday we will get the complete stats. When I looked at the grand jury report again just now, I noted that it said that there were 98 CAST cases in 2002 and 58 in 2004. Those numbers don't agree to the numbers in the 2006 stats in Rose's discussion. Either way, Maggie came into CAST well after the case numbers had been dropping since 2002.

    1. Yes she did and she will need to be elected again. If you had a clue, you would know there is a difference between being elected once and staying elected.

  37. I know it's tiresome and I know I won't change those people's minds, but I think it's worth it to other readers to set the record straight. This and previous campaigns have been marked by extraordinary levels of libel, and some of the false claims, through sheer repetition, seem to have morphed into "conventional wisdom." And those hideous claims are dusted off and dragged out again in subsequent campaigns.
I don't like to see people exerting so much energy to tear good people down. This has happened to all the current candidates, and Rose has consistently reminded us that they all are good people and stepped up to try and fix a big and important problem in our county.
So, for myself,(Maggie herself has already done so) I wish Arnie, Allan, and Elan good luck and I thank them for their efforts, past, present, and future.

  38. 10:40. Did you defend Firpo in the same way when people were accusing her of making up her resume, running sweatshops, lying to judges, and wanting carry on Paul's legacy? I'm guessing not. Fleming's hypocrisy and dishonesty in the campaign will bring her scrutiny in office. You reap what you sew. Has she reached out to any of the other candidates? Any public statements showing any grace toward other candidates? Answer is "no"- at least on anything public.

If you want to know why we don't trust her in office, look at the way she ran her campaign. The sleazy surrogates she used and the flat out lies.

    ReplyDelete
  39. 11:15 don't be a condescending prick simply becasue she won. Yes she will need to be elected again. don't assume I have no clue simply because I have an opinion. The campaign is over so go get to work or STFU some of us are doing community work, so we do have a ground level clue. Do you? Probably not, you probably sit in some office with a fat chair absorbing peoples hard working money while you just sit and assume that since you can type your condescending tone on a blog to an anonymous person that makes you have a clue. Very doubtful that you have even half the knowledge that I or others do. Big deal you can troll a blog. Now go pick up signs or remain pointless and part of the problem.

  41. Man your twisted and assuming. I support progress. The person I voted for did not make it. That is okay. I was not the one who started this off with a condescending tone. A real man does not need to hide behind a screen. Only a loser who is incapable of achieving any success trolls. You do not intimidate me, you don't bully me. You are the whiner. You have no stake in this, you do not vote. You are one of those losers that leeches off others.

If you had any balls, if you had a life, if you ever achieved anything, you would STFU.

  44. OH you foolish people saying that I don't do anything and you having no idea about me. Just like the rest of the fat cats in politics...you just suck off the system. Your lame attempts to put me down and say I don't do anything is simply ridiculous. You are all acting like vial cruel humans. So carry on because really how much of a difference do you really make around here spending your time trying to tear people down on blogs. Whew you really do shine in this community don't you? Your pointless, to even try to discuss anything with you is absurd. You don't say anything productive, your still bitching about an election that has been won and is over. What a sad life you must have. Sitting in your beaurocratic office telling people that they are nothing just so that you can make the reality of your meaning less life seem to be a little better. Most of you with the ugly responses are just sore losers grasping on to nothing putting people down so that you don't feel like shit. Who cares what your pointless attacks have to say? They don't help or hurt anything they just waist time. Like I am doing now, and I am done wasting my day responding to sad, hateful, bitter, cruel people. So since your so involved in the community...where is all this change you are woking on? Oh I don't care I have shit to do. Some of you assume some really ridiculous stuff...and you are way off and completely wrong. But, it turns out that even when you say shit about people that is wrong and hateful their days goes on and as soon as I shut this computer you will be gone out of my day as well. Either way it does not affect me. BoooHooo... you said mean stuff...that was completely wrong and wayyy off base. Not one of you trying to tear me down has been correct about anything you have assumed, but it is rather funny to watch. I hope you have the kind of day you wish upon others.
