Watchpaul will be winding down

- hopefully to be shut down in June.

I will continue to post articles related to the campaign, and to the election in general.

To the candidates, Paul Hagen and Kathleen Bryson, I wish you luck. I admire and respect your willingness to put yourselves out there, especially knowing how vicious this process can be.

I will be supporting Allison Jackson. But this blog is not intended as part of that support. If I do comment here, it will be me speaking for myself, not for any candidate.

I got into this because I became aware of special interests who sought to use the DA's Office, and the DA himself for their own ends. With his complicity, Richard Salzman and Tim Stoen sought to set up a "Trust Fund" to solicit, accept and use special interest money to privately fund a public prosecution. Had they been successful, it would have been a precedent setting move that would have changed our judicial system forever. The D.A.'s Office belongs to the people. To you, and to me. It should never be used on behalf of one special interest group, to aid them in their attacks on others. Ever. It's wrong. And it should never be tolerated.

It was a fluke of fate that put me here, and I promised myself that I would not walk away until it was fixed.

To all of you who have followed this blog over the past few years - this race is important. Don't sit it out. Gallegos has had almost 8 years to prove himself worthy of the trust people placed in him. He has had more than 4 years to correct the mistakes he has made. He has failed you. Each. And. Every. Time.

Fix it. You are the only ones who can.

  4. And, anonymous at 3:36- thanks. If I have any regrets it is that I don't know who you are so that i can say Thanks. To all who have been supportive, to all who have contributed - I have appreciated your input.

  5. christ, is R. Trent Williams or Sara the dog Salzman at it again? What an absolute sick excuse for a human being he is. That he and Gallegos still use each other speaks volumes for why things have to change.

  6. Yeah, the unholy alliance.

Thank you. You've done far more than expose the corruption and incestuous relationships at the DA's office; you've shined a light on the larger radical movement seeking to subvert the law and enrich themselves in the process. I do hope you'll leave your site up as it contains a great deal of investigative work linking these various organizations. If only we had a reporter that would follow up and bring greater exposure of their wrongdoings.

  8. Thank you. You have made a difference and you have simply given the people the facts. I have agreed and disageed with the comments but your posts have always been pointed. For that, I will always be thankful.

  9. Don't bail yet Rose:

    It's not done.

The heavy lifting is only now beginning. There will be a huge effort to tiptoe over the cracks in the landscape that Rtrent et al have riven. Besides, even without PG, the effort will persist. Kind of like a bad rash.

You've done some great work here. But, it doesn't end here.

    Keep it up Rose

  10. Oh don't worry dog,the blog isn't going anywhere,as I believe Rose intends to keep it up until Paul is out of office. There's a chance that he'll drop to Jackson in November, but don't count on it,as she has a lot of baggage that will bring folks out of the wood works to vote against her, that added to scenarios which will bring more progressive voters to the polls. In Eureka in particular, you'll see a whole lot of Glass/Kuhnel/Neely/Gallegos votes.
Glass will win.Kuhnel will win.Neely will win.Paul Gallegos will squeeze by.

    ReplyDelete
  11. And quite possibly you are listening to alot of lies, mark.

But anyway, Of course Kuhnel would win. He's a good guy, as far as I can tell. why would he have any trouble?

  12. Salzman is imploding. Gallegos should call off his rabid dog.

  13. Rose,

Thank you for all the information. I believe Richard Marks post about the meeting he attended vindicated a lot of the shit that has been going on for the last 8-10 years here in Humboldt.

You should be proud of yourself for keeping this site going despite all the garbage from the dark side. Its so important for people to see the truth.

  14. The thing is - I don't LIKE the polarization that has occurred. I know and love many people who have served on the HCDCC over the years. I have supported Democrats who have run for office - Jill, Charles, Worth, and others.

I do not believe in voting party line. You vote for the best PERSON.

Salzman brought in polarization, nasty games, and brutal expensive campaigns. We were a better community before he came.

  15. What Richard Marks revealed was the gorilla in the room, Democracy Unlimited and their brutal cult-like tactics they've used to be the controllers of any number of front groups, CREG even for a time.

They now control Local Solutions, in fact they have for years. They're backing Paul Hagen, apparently seeing Gallegos as a wounded beast. This does not give me comfort, just to go from bad to worse, which is what a Gallegos/Hagen run-off would be.

Face it Rose, there isn't a lesser evil decision to be made here between the men. If Jackson doesn't make the run-off, you might have to hold your nose and support Gags just to avoid something even worse.

  16. Au contraire. Paul Hagen is a good man.

  17. Saltzman is losing it.

  18. Good man or not, he is a bad candidate for getting into bed with those Democracy Unlimited control freaks.

  19. Rose , you are always a breath of fresh air. Honest always and fair even to idiots like MR esquan. You have given light to an evil in our mists. When you shine the light on evil it fights like hell. Do not worry we know the truth.

  20. Salzman is a bully and a chicken who picks on women. He never dares go after men like this. You notice he also doesn't post his shit on the Journal site, where he'll get called on it. He does it at the Times Standard, and on KMUD (his megaphone).

    ReplyDelete
  21. A lot of have noticed that too Rose. You're wright about him being chicken too. Most bullies really are. That's how they try and hide it.

Then people will know who they're hearing from, by God.

    Rose

This is such an informative site, how appreciated the chance to peek in often since the start of the Zanotti mess. You will still appear @ the Mirror? I am in awe of your energy and committment.

  26. Thanks, Josephine. Nice to meet you.

Yeah, I expect I'll still pop in to the Mirror and Eric's - and heraldo even though they don't like me much.

But I am looking forward to closing this one down. It'll be tempting to start a LIGHTER local political scene thing, but in reality I just want to get back to my life, my garden... it's been fun but it is time to go.

  27. I know this isn't the right spot to ask a question, but I am curious to know what the "big case" is that's currently going on. I was an alternate on a jury at the end of January, and the criminal court was beginning jury selection for a case that was expected to last 6 months..... I was just wondering if that was "some big case" that Gallegos was going to try and make himself look good by winning......
    THanks

  28. Sorry, don't know. If I hear anything - well, I'll let ya know.

Right now he's claiming the old folks home case - but I seem to remember he threw that up as a trial balloon just at the beginning of the last election, too.

  29. Why are the so called progressive so rabid about only Arkley and women candidates? I sure don't see much over on their site other than hits on women or arkley.

Inoticed that the conviction and sentancing of the Janoze fellow was prominently written up with quotables from Gags, my bet, he will shamelessly exploit this during the election as an shinning example of his prosecutorial prowess.....and then be left dumbstuck by the answering chorus of "Gunderson, Zanotti/Douglas, Quigley."

    ReplyDelete
  31. There's been an extraordinary flurry of press releases coming out of his office.

I wonder if any of the other individuals running for DA will mention that in this county you can beat your spouse to death with a crowbar, bury the body, have your girlfriend impersonate her for the insurance money and be sentanced to 12 years (and not serve that long obviously.) Just waiting for someone to mention that one.
