Gallegos' Pipe Dream

I came into office promising justice for all and have not wavered from that commitment. Now, seven years into my term in office, we have achieved more than I thought was possible, bringing a refreshing change to the District Attorney’s office along with a decline in violent crime.

Cracking cold murder cases, protecting our children and the elderly - the most vulnerable among us – from abuse , taking on official misconduct no matter how controversial, insisting on the highest ethical standards of my staff, and replacing poorly performing personnel with young, energetic attorneys and investigators demonstrates how effective the office has performed under my supervision.

I am proud of what we have achieved over this period. We have stood up for all of Humboldt County. That is the meaning of “Justice for All.”

Where've I heard that before?

From the Alliance for Ethical Business (AEB) List serve:
1. DA's office can fight meth and heroin and their related crimes including crooked cops. Crime prevention programs, in-patient rehab locally.
2. DA can exploit his national notoriety by recruiting seasoned as well as fresh bright younger prosecuters
3. Raise money to prosecute the PL case aggressively
4. Put forth an economic vision focusing on a diversified local and regional organic economy, including energy policy, LNG, appropriate Bay, airport, rail, etc development
5. Organize ourselves politically to accrue power, groom folks to run for offices. Database, outreach, etc.
6. Get rid of Tom Herman on the planning commission thanks to Rodoni, he has been central to all of PL's fraudulent activities and is therefore vulnerable to public outcry. This is a powerful position.

  1. Not a very impressive list of supporters! DA employees and their family members (what else can they do), Ken Miller, Greg Conner, the DA in Trinity and Del Norte County! Big deal.

    Justice for all! Whatever

  2. "replacing poorly performing personnel with young, energetic attorneys"

Perhaps the District Attorney would care to identify which "poorly performing personnel" were replaced?

And by what objective metrics is performance measured?

  3. 1:05: that's an easy question to answer - anyone that is smarter than Paul, and strong women. He can't handle more than the dominatrix he married.

  4. If the discussion is to have any value, unnecessary and irrelevant comments about spouses and family should not appear. Either have some class, or try to act as if you do.

  5. Agreed. Family members should not be targeted.

The discussion should be on the issues and on the record.

For those who are new here, I do not censor comments - as much as is humanly possible. I have on occasion had to remove some, and no doubt as this heats up will have to do so again.

I hope not. I hope comments stay on the real issues.

Paul Gallegos is not a bad man. he is just a bad DA. He has a nice family. They are not bad people.

I'd just like to see him return to private practice and I wish him a long and successful career. It's too bad he ever got involved with Salzman. Maybe things would have been different without that influence.

  7. I doubt Rose will edit you; you'll just look like a jackass.
Rose nailed it on the head. Paul is not a bad person, he's just not qualified to run the office, nor does he want talented prosecutors around that will make him look second rate. We deserve better and the grand jury has pointed out his shortcomings. Time to move on and bring in someone who can restore respect to the office. Right now neither the law abiding nor the law breaking think that he'll do the right thing.

  8. Humboldt County does deserve better.

I remember PG's first election, the only person more surprised that Terry Farmer was Paul Gallegos.

But it's too late, the damage is done.
