You'd pay money for this?

County to join climate council?

Among the items on the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors’ Tuesday agenda is the county’s joining the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives....

The ICLEI has a five-step program recommendation and offers technical assistance to members for carrying out the program’s activities, the release stated.

The county’s membership cost would be $1,750.

...New U.S. Star Community Index to help local governments measure, declare "green" status
Starting in 2008, the Start Community Index will provide local governments with a standardized framework to plan, track and claim their environmental and sustainability work....

Oh goodie. A ticket to more regulation.

  1. Rose, as a dedicated and civic minded citizen, why don't you save the taxpayers some money and just inform the Board that they can join the "Wollf's Green Gotham" society?

It'll save a ton of money, no additional regulation or government buearocracy......heck, everything will stay satus quo, except I'll make a really swell poster with my Avatar on it saying,

    "Humbolt....Grrr-eener than ICLEI"

And, as an added incentive, I won't even come up there and nose around.......just like "they" wouldn't.

    Cost? Twelve bucks.
    I think it's got promise.

  2. M'kay, Wollf - and I was thinking that since I am not flying to Europe this year, that oughtta be worth something - how much will they pay me? In fact, I haven't been to Europe in the last twenty years, that oughtta be worth even more.

We have alot of people living pretty spartan country lives, with virtually no "carbon footprint" - I think they should be rakin' in the dough. We just need to set up a "Grrr-eener Carbon Bank. A real redistribution of wealth.

    Whaddya say?

  3. Good old wolfie but that won't let all the baykeeper types continue to suck on the tit of gov.handouts. Fear and greed and control over everything just can't be trumped by a little old 12 dollar wolfie. Sorry bout that.

What am I gonna do with all these posters, mouse pads, coffee cups and foot warmers I've ordered?

Yes, Sresquan, I realize what you'd like me to do with them.

Oh, Yay, I got served my divorce papers! yuck.
    G'nite, good dreams to all.

    $1,750 for what??
Hell,a group of HSU or CR students could take this on as a project and save the county some dough, and get some good education.

  6. This is, (no disrespect intended), almost as if a Modern Hannukah Miracle has happened.

Sresquan and Wollf agree on an issue. Feeling faint, room spinning......"CLUNK".

    Merry Christmas, Sresquan.
