You have to laugh

Poor Chris Kerrigan had a happy life going, now he's immersed in a campaign in which Salzman lives vicariously, fighting his decade old battles through Chris.

And the latest letter defending Kerrigan against charges that he abandoned his City Council post to go out on his quixotic quest to be somebody in the John Edwards campaign...The writer argues that since City Council pays bupkis and Supervisor pays $81,585 a year for four years, that Chris was not so likely to run off given the money at stake.

This from a candidate who isn't supposed to be about the money.

Wonder if Sara the Dog wrote the letter for the guy. Don't laugh.

  1. I think Richard is missing the point. Even if he was making the big bucks on the council. Chris could follow in the footsteps of Edwards, go off on his political adventures and still get paid.

Come to think of it he did follow in the footsteps of Edwards.

  2. Please Richard, next time you're in Macktown, pay a visit to Rose. Drop your pants, pull it out, and let Rose have at it. Maybe that'll satisfy her for a week or two.

  4. Rose, you hit the nail on head. These anti-liberty progs like Ken Miller are freaking out . They pushed a kool aid drinker on MCSD board but they are striking out f with Latour and Kerrigan. The Miller/Salzman/HCDCC/Baykeeper gang of thugs will only get more vile as they suffer defeat.

  8. I'm just curious why you would want to say ANYTHING that reminds people of Kerrigan's back-alley blowjob.

It's the one thing that people universally start discussing as soon as his name comes up. And they shake their head. Is that what you want in a 'leadership' position?

And for all his young groupies - take note - when it was reported on, guess whose picture, not just name, was attached to the story.... hint, it is the woman, not good buddy Chris.

HIs leaving in the middle of the job, his affiliation with and refusal to denounce Salzman, and the back-alley blowjob are what he is remembered for. He should have chosen a new path.

  9. Speaking of Salzman--

Subject: CA Voter Guide + SoHum event for Elan Firpo

I support Elan Firpo for D.A. She is the only candidate currently working as Deputy District Attorney, she is endorsed by the Humboldt Civil Liberties Defense Fund and simply stated, she's brilliant and offers the best choice for Humboldt County's future. She has extensive experience managing personnel and has articulated fresh ideas for moving the office forward. Her primary opponent, Maggie Fleming, is backed by Sheriff Downy, the Deputy Sheriff's Association and the EPD and Fortuna police officers' associations. Given our troubled past with law enforcement in Humboldt County, from the use of pepper spray on non-violent protesters to the killing of Cherie Moore, I do not want them to be choosing our next D.A.. Simply put, I believe Fleming would be a return to power for the old guard, which would be most unfortunate for Humboldt County's future.

GALLEGOS & FIRPO IN SOHUM SUNDAY 4:PM AT BEGINNINGS

District Attorney Paul Gallegos and Deputy DA Elan Firpo at the Beginnings Octogon, Sunday May 18 from 4-7PM.
DA Candidate Elan Firpo will be there to listen to the community and present her plans for the office.

  11. I'm supporting Frepo because she is a independent thinker and very hard worker. Fuck all of you that disrespect Mike DOWNEY. He is an honest man and outstanding sheriff.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Sheriff Mike Downey is an honest man and likes honest people. That's why he is supporting Maggie Fleming. Read the letter from Salzman in this post, you'll get the real Firpo who will be against law enforcement and carry on as Gallegos has. We need a change!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I absolutely agree, 12:45, "Sheriff Mike Downey is an honest man" - He is one of the true good guys. The best of the best.

And I am sick of the meme that any candidate who has the support of the law enforcement community is somehow beholden. It is simply not true.

It was started by TeamSalzman to cover up the fact that Gallegos could not get their endorsement. His failures earned him almost universal disrespect from the law enforcement community, and they desperately tried to warn you, and tell you of their frustration with him. They risk their lives, they bring in the bad guys, and he lets them go. And, when they speak to victims of crimes, who want to know WHY something isn't being done, they have to say, we do our best, but we bring them in, and then - he lets them go, and no matter how good we are, we can't fix that.

That they have chosen to support Maggie Fleming is the result of their years of interactions with her, and their respect for her professionalism and experience. They do not expect to be cut special deals, they just want the bad guys off the street.

I've said again and again that if this was a race for school superintendent, and all of the teachers were telling you, this guy is bad, you WOULD listen and give them credence. Law enforcement deserves that same respect from you.

By the same token, just because Salzman is still living in the rear-view mirror and spouting his time-tested hate-filled themes (for both Kerrigan and Firpo), that does not mean that Firpo shares his views. In fact she has made it quite clear that she does not, based on her own life knowledge and experience.

    ReplyDelete
  14. In fact the only candidate - and he's not running - that provably did his backer's bidding was Gallegos - both with his Ken-Miller/Palco suit and his radical Pot stance.

Never forget that - he chose that path. And it was spun and excused away by Salzman, to this very day.

Yes, he was very effective at brining you 100 plant minimums, and now you have grow-houses, destruction of rental property, chemical poisoning, electrical overload, house fires, home invasion shootings and rampant crime.

Why anyone would want his endorsement is beyond me.

    ReplyDelete
  15. And Rose in Salzman's own letter he is speaking for Firpo, just as he spoke for Gallegos, he outlines that she will not work with law enforcement, in fact the inference can be drawn that it will be business as usual. Really though did you expect anything else since she was the choice for Gallegos? From this point on, Salzman is talking for Firpo exactly like he did for Gallegos.

    ReplyDelete
  16. "Why anyone would want his endorsement is beyond me."

Same goes for an endorsement from Rose Welsh

  17. By the same token, just because Salzman is still living in the rear-view mirror and spouting his time-tested hate-filled themes (for both Kerrigan and Firpo), that does not mean that Firpo shares his views.

Time tested hate filled themes? This is a remarkable statement. Rose, you realize that YOU are guilty of the exact same charge??

    ReplyDelete
  18. Anon 4:33 oh Firpo shares Salzman's views, there is no doubt about it, as a matter of fact as stated before and we saw when Gallegos ran that Salzman will speak for her, she will have no choice because Gallegos chose her. Firpo using her mom or dad being in law enforcement is nothing more than using them for her benefit. She really is upset that she did not garner the support from law enforcment but they have no respect for her and do not trust her.

    ReplyDelete
  19. If anyone cares what Salzman says is beyond me! And since Firpo chose to embrace him and Gallegos says alot about her honesty and integrity. She has no business running for DA and anyone that is stupid enough tovote for her deserves what they get... More Gallegos for fourmore years. Enough is enough.

    ReplyDelete
  20. All the above anti Firpo comments come from lazy DA office Maggie supporters or lazy Arnie office supporters who will actually have to work instead of taking breaks on taxpayers dime. Who should be fired but hide under typical government tenure.

They are also from lazy and rich attorneys who always make backroom deals. The only difference is that they will make it with whoever is DA, if that DA allows it.

Whose besties are lawyers? Again, Maggie and Arnie. Allan and Elan have a life beyond the second floor of the courthouse.

The law enforcement does not like Firpo must come from Losey who should never have been in law enforcement. Or the wanna be investigators that hang with Arnie.

If any candidate claims they will change the plea deals significantly, they are saying whatever you want to hear to get elected.

Paul did not make a mess by himself. Greed did and it includes those names who are Maggie and Arnie's supporters, including the ones silently backing them.

At least Elan is open about Paul and Salzman.

  21. Paul Gallegos was a crook who took a bribe from Bear River's now deceased Chairperson Leonard Bowman to dismiss some 31 felony counts against Bowman's son. A year ago I heard rumors from someone connected to this scene that had Gallegos in cahoots with SoHum big time growers to protect a criminal syndicate going on there. I don't have any idea if these rumors are true but I know the Bear River/Gallegos deal happened and happened on our time and dime. $10,000 contribution into Gallegos campaign. Any candidate who associates themselves with Gallegos and hence Richard Salzman and dirty politics should not be in office in Humboldt County, bottom line if we want to keep Humboldt County government clean.

  22. I like the fact that Maggie has kept herself above the political fray as that is a real indication of how her office will be run while Firpo, Maggie's closest competition, is doing Prog politics as usual, trying now desperately for a win to get a Prog in high office in Humboldt County. But these are political animals we don't need or want in Humboldt County government offices as we can see from Lovelace that these pols do the bidding of Progressive political agenda makers consistently and thus drag Prog politics into everyone's lives. No Mas! Please!

Oh, while I'm here, let me lather my sometimes paranoid middle finger I often give to deserving social elements in my role as a dedicated social critic and prophet about town, I posted a charming response in Judy's NCJ Prog mouthpiece rag to a hysterical Buddhist Relics exhibit in Arcata, wondering in print about a superstitious custom that went out of fashion in Christiandom a 1000 years ago.

I of course added my humble Christian viewpoint pointing out the Fatal Flaw of Buddhism discovered by scientists studying brain scans of Buddhist monks while meditating. And my post, the whole article, is utterly gone from that paper. Even back issue doesn't show it. I don't think it's because it's old news as one can see the NCJ keeps old news and comments going for issues.

I hear Judy's wanting Arcata City Council to put a Great Wall around Arcata to keep me out, but of course that rumor has not been confirmed by Award Winning Critics handing still another Progressive Attack Writing Prize against some hapless Republican businessman in whatever California community that is sure to win the hearts and minds of hard-hitting hit piece writers and their Award Winning higher ups.

  23. Sorry Anon 1:35AM, that was not me you were talking about. By the way, I retired after over 34 years in a great career that I had the fantastic opportunity to work with Maggie. She is the best candidate. Also, I always use my name when I blog, sorry to disappoint you. Oh one other thing,I was fast asleep at 1:35AM, looks like you weren't. You really need to get a life! Maybe after the election???

What will you do after the election and if Maggie loses?

Were is Clenenden who you supported? Oh yeah, he lost. Thanks to the Losey smear campaign strategy.

Maggie Fleming has shown poor judgment in her choice of supporters. You know birds of a feather flock together.

    1. Mike, your obsession with me is getting ridiculous. Only thing worse is your crush on Maggie.

I don't put much stock in your predicting wins. Clenenden lost.

Now get to sleep but first go put up another illegal sign for Maggie in Fortuna. We know how you like to pass laws to benefit Maggie. If she was a winner, you would not need to cheat.

  27. There is no way that Maggie wins it outright in the primary. It is just not going to happen. Her own supporters (the ones who don't froth at the mouth) admit that. Those that do are setting her up for failure by raising expectations which she can't meet.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Maggie can very well win it outright in June, she needs only 50% plus one vote. In the June primary we know from past elections the number of voters expected is low as opposed to the November elections. It would be a longshot but closer now given her support across the board and given how much negative opinion Salzman's letter is producing with people distancing themselves from from Firpo!

    ReplyDelete
  29. 11:35 whatever you think of him, Salzman is liked by many. Not me but he has his following.

Firpo does not need Salzman to win. You keep trying to link Salzman to Firpo. That is 1 individual.

Maggie has Joel Mielke, Mike Losey, Bonnie Neely, Linda Atkins, just to name a few.

The Maggie camp is trying to put up a brave front. If you are so confident of the June primary, why are you spending so much time discrediting Firpo?

Firpo has other supporters like Patty Clary, Julie Fulkerson, Neal Ewald, but you won't mention them.
