I don't know, but I'm guessing Arnie made 17 references to the Ferrer case and 14 to Dollison's BAR record. I'll also bet Maggie planted her stock plea disposition question.
That was the general overview, but there also was flemming who called out firpo on the fact that she truly only has five years experience and not nine. Firpo said she never ment ifor it to sound like she said she had nine years experience. She was counting her time in law school as applicable.
Predictable. Looking forward to the run-off. Something other than listening to Arnie spout off for an hour about Ferrer would be good. He would have been a much better candidate if he had some consistent positive message. I think I've heard the "term 4 1/2 years experience" at least 80 times in the last two weeks.
I'd be surprised if Arnie gets 15%. 5 days til we know. I think the only question remaining now is how far Firpo will be behind Fleming going into the runoff. Wagers?
So is Firpo actually the front runner and everyone has it wrong?? Maggie and Arnie are both gunning for her pretty hard. I don't know the answer but Firpo seems to be the one they are all afraid of. Why?
The only annointed one and the only one who feels entitled to be DA is Maggie.
Arnie does not even deserve the 5% he might get. There is not much to add to what has been said about Arnie. With all the money Maggie has and the machine, Maggie should make the runoff but June 3rd could bring surprises.
22:45 Classic Klein. Never answered the question with a single idea of his own. Used the whole answer to hit Elan. 5 more days. Then he can be Maggie's attack pet from his lawn chair.
Anon @10:49, I actually just watched the entire debate on the Rio dell times Site and just to clarify some things, Mr Klein did not keep referring to the Ferrer case or Mr dollison state bar disciplinary actions the number of times you mentioned. What he said is the truth and that is refreshing to hear. Folks need to know the truth and weight that against what they believe a DA should be equipped with to do an effective job.

Anon @ 11:37, you are lying about Mr Klein. Watch the video feed again. In fact, firpo attacked fleming as did dollison. I am glad that both fleming and Klein called firpo out on her lack of experience. Every time firpo tells us her experience the numbers keep changing and increasing, which we all know it a lie. Just go to the state bar website. Also if she is using her time as an intern which is not an attorney, then let guess the other three candidates should increase the years of their experience as well.
Anon @ 2:23, what you posted are untrue statements about how Mr Klein answered the questions. He did answer all of them. Watch the video dude. BTW, if you want to be technical, there were many questions that firpo kept answering the same. Bottomline, you can say you are going to do this and that with the office, but the county does not have the funds. They are faced with a 3 million dollars deficit going into next fiscal year and they are trying to decide what to cut in order to balance next year's budget. So, firpos grandiose ideas of increasing the number of prosecutors is just unrealistic. Klein is the only one that is addressing this challenge with what the budget currently is. Think about that on election day.
Geezo! I wish people would stop making it sound like Élan has more than 4 1/2 years of experience. Arnie will runs out of fingers on his counting hand and Maggie have to do more long division. "I have been an attorney 3.7642 times longer than Ms Firpo has been out of diapers" i'm so going to miss the Arnie and Maggie show after the primary.
At the debate firpo keeps telling the community that she is going to put in place vertical prosecutors for all the important crimes like DV, drugs and child abuse. What she did not tell you is that these all are grant funded positions that need to be obtained. That takes years to get the funding because the grant application is long and is not always available each year. She also states that shebis working on one now. I can't wait to see the product on the agenda item which has to be approved by the board of Supervisors and county counsel before it can be submitted.

8:49, makes sense now let's how the community puts weight on experience than making it at a popular contest because we all know that the best candidate is not the most popular.
Judge Wilson ruled today that there is enough compelling evidence to hold Juan Ferrer over for murder charges where he faces up to 26 years in prison. He will be arraigned on June 10th along with the two other defendants who are charged with felony assault. The plea offer of 2 years in the county jail would appear to be a little weak on its face.
Were you in court today? I was along with several other people. Compelling was not a word used.
Evidentiary issues was used. The judge ruled that that Juan Ferrer, Sophie Rocheleau and Nicholas Stoiber were held to answer on the charges in a preliminary hearing.
The case could go to jury trial and the result could go either way. Arnie Klein just cannot give up making his entire campaign about the Ferrer case.
Maggie Fleming and her supporters join Arnie Klein and his supporters in exploiting a tragedy to get elected.
That is what 20 and 40/42 years of their legal experience has to offer.
Anon at 11:01. 11:15 is here from minutes in the future and respectfully asks that you stop making fun of Anons at 9:57, 9:19 and 9:17. This is a serious matter even if anon at 9:30 doesn't think so.
I listened to the audio. I am sure who I am not voting for. Klein is out as an idiot. Sadly Fleming is also out as she simply can't be honest about her past and experience.
I am still troubled by the salzman/wooley/evenson influence with firpo and have concerns about dollison ' s ability to actually clean house but for me it's down to those two.
So if you don't think Klein is not going to even have a chance . Then why spend these last few days dwelling on what he says or does? Don't you have your oun campaigns to be concerned with. If he's not a threat then stop acting like he is.....or maybe it's because he is the only one who doesn't give the crap same old story answeres and is not bought by anyone. Good way to spend your last few days campaigning....sitting behind your computer trolling candidates....go out into the community and talk to people. The election will not be won on blogs.
Fleming redacted 1500 pages of a public records request in the transparency lawsuit and cost the county a bundle.
Fleming destroyed CAST, and it has never recovered
Fleming hasn't worked a full time job for 15 years
Fleming's 460's look like an overlay of Terry Farmer and Bonnie Neely's
Fleming is endorsed by Mike Losey, John Burke, Jack Bernstein and all of the other DA Investigators who want to keep their outrageous salaries and toys.
Fleming has no problems with breaking laws to suit her purpose like hiding contributions, or erecting structures on courthouse property, or placing signs early in Fortuna or placing two to a property.
That is 4 1/2 times as much baggage as Firpo with half the experience of Klein and 2/3rds the ethical issues if Dollison. Wait, why would I vote for her again ??
ok 10:00 am. This is what I found on this site about Fleming and her performance. She said on this audio she was brought in in 2006 to fix the problem which it looks occurred on her watch in 2006:
In 2001 There were 196 CAST Interviews There were 65 cases received by the DAs office There were 46 cases FILED by the DAs office
In 2002 There were 215 CAST Interviews There were 66 cases received by the DAs office There were 47 cases FILED by the DAs office
In January of 2003, Paul Gallegos took office
In 2003 There were 205 CAST Interviews There were 67 cases received by the DAs office There were 40 cases FILED by the DAs office
In June of 2004 Paul Gallegos fired his top child abuse prosecutor.
In 2004 There were 146 CAST Interviews There were 50 cases received by the DAs office There were 23 cases FILED by the DAs office
In 2005 There were 155 CAST Interviews There were 35 cases received by the DAs office There were 17 cases FILED by the DAs office
In the first four months of 2006 There were 40 CAST Interviews (on track for 120 interviews) There were 4 cases received by the DAs office (on track for 12 cases received) There was 1 case FILED by the DAs office.
ONE.
ONE child abuse case filed. January to April of that year.
And now - a report of "a 40 decrease in investigations that led to cases between 2006 and 2009."
By about 2003 and a half law enforcement was irrevocably giving up on CAST after Paul screwed it up so badly. In 2006, way after it was too late, Paul threw Fleming into CAST in a desperate admission that he could not fix the disaster he set in motion by a series of phenomenally stupid and irreversible moves. By 2006 he had set a pattern of ignoring victims, cosying up to defendants. He compounded this by; losing his best interviewer Wadsworth, firing Jackson, losing the computer guy Andrews, moving Isaac out of CAST, giving CAST cases to Schwartz, and generally being the incompetent narcissist he is from day one.
Thanks again flemming campaign. Anytime I speak about my real concerns ( and am not involved in any campaign) you are always the first to attack. You also always direct me to some freaking web siight. The web sights are their shining achievements put out there for the only purpose of making them look the best they can. But, back here you guys are always the cruelest. Telling me I am a troll, attacking everyone, that's a bunch of crap and because of it I will not vote for her. If this is what she deems as appropriate then I don't want a back door shady jerk. At least the other three pick on people openly and in public. Just like entitled whit money, if you don't agree with it then you must be up to no good, but in reality it is always they who seem to be up to no good. It's not just you trolls here there are actually voters that read this blog.
Two things: People who comments are not trolls. Even if they disagree with you, even if they're rude, even if they're wrong.
People who disagree are not trolls. Trolls do exist - but they are a very specific type. Let's stop calling everyone who is engaged enough to weigh in a 'troll.'
Neither are people who comment 'bloggers.' Chiv is a blogger, Eric Kirk is a blogger. I am, too. You're not 'blogging' if you comment, hate to break it to ya - but you ARE perhaps one of the most important pieces of any blog. Commenters bring new perspectives, experience, knowledge and information. It's what makes blogging worthwhile. It's why it matters.
We don't have to agree - and we don't become informed if we don't listen to one another.
@ 4:10 "In 2006, way after it was too late, Paul threw Fleming into CAST" Now actual quote from the Fleming Campaign website: "In 2005 District Attorney Paul Gallegos appointed me as Director of the Child Abuse Services Team (CAST." So how exactly do you start off a campaign touting this one single assignment as your leadership experience. Then when people start bringing up facts, like the following:
In the first four months of 2006 There were 40 CAST Interviews (on track for 120 interviews) There were 4 cases received by the DAs office (on track for 12 cases received) There was 1 case FILED by the DAs office.
ONE.
ONE child abuse case filed. January to April of that year."
The new tack is to change who was in charge. Say the operation was a total disaster, blame Paul, and not accept responsibility, then try and change the dates to make it look like Fleming ran the program for almost no time. Claim Schwartz was handling it. I believe it was the late great Sen. Moynihan who said, you are entitled to your opinions. You are not entitled to your facts. Before you start claiming different dates that contradict public records and your candidate's own website then you better get together and get your stories straight. The public ain't buying this flip-flopping.
The Salzman method is to throw lies and mud faster than the opponent can clean it off. He encourages supporters to repeat the lies until the lies supplant the facts. He then points out how suspicious the opponent looks because they're addressing the invented "problems."
Fleming has an unblemished reputation. If anyone tells you otherwise, consider the source.
Was the CAST program successful under Fleming? If she says it was and there is empirical evidence that it was not then that is a blemish on her reputation. If it was a failure and she says it was a success then that is a blemish on her reputation. So which is it. This was easy. Her County Counsel performance was so terrible that she has cost the county hundreds of thousands of dollars. It is so bad that the husband of the County Counsel withdrew his endorsement and demanded his contribution back, because he did not want to support the corrupt and incompetent Fleming campaign.
Salzman is too busy prepping up Kerrigan and LaTour.
Since you do desperately want to associate him with Firpo which has been a Maggie tactic since the beginning, let's talk about mud.
Salzman is a boy scout compared to Losey, Neely, Meilke, Atkins, the Services.
All support Maggie. As for yougofree, he is a close personal friend of Arnie's. Of course, seeing Arnie has no chance, his friends are already claiming to support either Maggie or Elan.
Maggie has shown herself to be an excellent politician. Outspend all elected officials, act holier than thou, while her attack dogs sling mud.
In a small town, people see a sudden change of heart on issues for what it is, politics.
The Services are not supporting Élan Firpo or Maggie. The blogosphere is a bubble. There actually is an election going on, where almost all of Humboldt who are not on the blogosphere actually gets to vote.
This is insane. I am not 3:08 (I don't know who is to blame and won't speculate), but I was also shocked by 5/31's Anon 3:34 who said "... the husband of the County Counsel withdrew his endorsement and demanded his contribution back, because he did not want to support the corrupt and incompetent Fleming campaign." This statement is FALSE. The contribution was returned because it came in the form of a money order, not a "negotiated instrument" as required by the FPPC. The only thing the campaign can do once received is to send it back. The donor is going to send a check instead. The endorsement is still there.
10:11 you are the one who does not have a clue, either on the blogs or in real life. Both Maggie and Allan partially list their endorsers.
Milt Boyd and the Services were at Maggie's announcement. They were not at Allan's. If they did switch to Allan, which you have no proof of, then all it shows is people are waking up to Maggie's true colors.
To anon 6:30, I agree. 3:08 should not blame Firpo campaign. And I try not to blame candidates for the nasty stuff their supporters say as well (unless they start saying it themselves).
Maggie has always asked her supporters to refrain from blog comments in general, and to avoid accusing or disparaging remarks about others. However, she recognizes she's not their boss, and she has acknowledged that anyone has a right to question something about a candidate that they don't understand and want to know about. And she trusts people to compose their own letters to the editors and testimonials, and does not offer any "talking points," nor does she have "attack dogs" speaking for her as some have claimed. When she has something to say, she says it directly herself, politely and if possible face-to-face.
She does know that we struggle, as do all the respective candidates and their supporters, with the lies and the malice we see thrown at her. I finally went to see her recently and told her I'd like to refute some of the misstatements I see and offer some facts, and I think she respects that as long as it's limited to correcting misinformation. I'm still too chicken to post with my name, but if everyone's names magically appeared somehow, I'd be OK with that.
To 5/30/14 12:14 (partial response), 5/30 3:42, 5/30 10:54 and 5/31 3:34 (partial response): Maggie was appointed Director of CAST in late 2005 after declining cases and other problems were looked at by the grand jury. Especially in light of the difficulties she faced, her work was highly regarded.
5/30 3:42 has cut and pasted a selective portion of the 2006 watchpaul page regarding CAST (link below). If you read the rest, I think you will come to a different conclusion than 5/30 10:54’s or 5/31 3:34’s. And I am not 5/30 4:10 – don’t know who it is, but I don’t think anyone is trying to change the dates. There are 2 dates involved. Fleming was made director in late 2005, but then it looks like she was also made the CAST prosecutor as well in early 2006.
With apologies to Rose for cluttering up her blog, I am cutting and pasting a few things here for those who might not otherwise click around to get some more information. Also, to view another long-winded (facts can be cumbersome I guess) discussion of CAST, see this link: http://watchpaul.blogspot.com/2014/05/bully-bully.html
So, here are a few more quotes from the following link, but it’s worth reading the whole thing and the 04-05 Grand Jury report and responses for background. http://watchpaul.blogspot.com/p/child-abuse-prosecutions_09.html 1. “Deputy District Attorney Maggie Flemming — who is the main person at the DA’s Office who prosecutes persons accused of child abuse — said the numbers The Eureka Reporter obtained did not reflect the work she has done so far this year. However, because of The Eureka Reporter’s deadline and her schedule, she was unable to provide current information by press deadline. [Allison] Jackson and Wes Keat of the District Attorney’s Office praised Flemming for her hard work and commitment. Jackson said her criticism of Gallegos should in no way reflect on Flemming. “I believe that you will find that Maggie’s work, her skill and dedication, is universally acknowledged as being beyond reproach,” Keat said. “She has 20 years of successful experience as a prosecutor, including a substantial background in sexual assault, not to mention homicides. Maggie is simply the best.” “I can tell you there is no other attorney I admire more in the world than Maggie Flemming,” Jackson said.”
2. “We have Maggie assigned to the unit and arguably Maggie is the best person to prosecute child molestation cases if, of course, Maggie is available,” Dikeman said. “And therein lies part of the problem, because if you have Maggie doing other things — like asset forfeiture and other assignments, ... she’s not going to be immediately available for a child abuse case. That is the important thing in my mind, to have the attorney available.” “It (vertical prosecution) minimizes the impact that the criminal justice system has on the child, because you have specially trained people who are dealing with the child.”
3. Gallegos countered and said vertical prosecution remains a priority of his department. “Certainly, there is vertical prosecution,” he said. “... I see it as a responsibility, accountability, accessibility thing, and I know Maggie understands that. She is very responsible. She is very accountable. She is also very accessible. “... By assigning Maggie to cases, we increase the likelihood that cases will resolve appropriately and without the risk, costs and trauma on the child that are necessarily associated with trial.”
4. “All we need to ask ourselves is how Paul Gallegos manages to staff CAST and maintain vertical prosecution when he has one attorney whose job is mostly child abuse but other things as well,” Wadsworth said. “Why did he put one person in a role that took at least two and a half? We can see the number of cases being investigated isn’t dropping, so we know the workload hasn’t reduced. Is this in the best interest of our community, our children and families, or for the team?”
The following is from page 31 of the 2005-6 Grand Jury report (dated 6/13/06), as a late response by Gallegos (after 8/29/05) to the 2004-5 Grand Jury findings. (The Grand Jury had noted that CAST cases had dropped significantly - between 2002 and 2004, well before Ms Fleming became director, and in fact while both Jackson and Rob Wade were still with the office):
"GRAND JURY REPORT #2005-LJ-01 A Review of the Humboldt County Child Abuse Services Team [dated 6/28/05] Recommendation 1a: The Grand Jury recommends that the CAST Boards create a leadership position .
Response from the District Attorney [dated 8/29/05]: The recommendation has not yet been implemented, but will be implemented prior to January 1, 2006. As indicated above, the creation of a director position which would authorize a leadership person to coordinate and make decisions about CAST has been advocated and was initiated by the District Attorney's Office. The District Attorney's position is joined in by the CAST Executive Board, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Law Enforcement Chiefs Association. The delay in the creation of such a position has been caused by the lack of consensus within the CAST organization about the need for the position and/or the authority of the person who fills it.
• Additional Response from the District Attorney [dated 6/13/06]: Our office assigned Deputy District Attorney, Maggie Fleming, to fulfill the responsibilities of a director position and to coordinate and make decisions about CAST. Deputy Fleming is an outstanding attorney who is both experienced in and dedicated to CAST.
Haha. GALLEGOS ' S response? Everyone was an outstanding attorney to him. Stone, Schwartz, all of them. Ti next his is as lame as his endorsement. What ever Fleming convex was 15 years ago she no longer is.
I am still considering which candidate is the least offensive with the best management skills. Who has the most years or trials isn't the issue for me.
If people were allowed to use their names, comments would reduce drastically and I would be OK with that 7:23.
You do not see many comments on the Times-Standard since people had to use their real names.
This is Rose's blog. She chooses to give people the option to comment anonymously. It is a choice that some abuse, others do not.
Maggie is not the only one who has had malice, lies or such behavior directed at her. I agree with Rose, you made very respectful points without attacking anyone.
I wish there was more discourse in the civil manner that you reflected in your comment.

DeleteEvidentiary issues was used.
9:57 went to the Klein school of mathematics
ReplyDeleteAnon at 11:01. 11:15 is here from minutes in the future and respectfully asks that you stop making fun of Anons at 9:57, 9:19 and 9:17. This is a serious matter even if anon at 9:30 doesn't think so.
ReplyDeleteDollison and Firpo definitely have the the most trolls.
ReplyDelete"Firpo has 4 1/2 trolls!"
ReplyDeleteArnie Klien
I listened to the audio. I am sure who I am not voting for. Klein is out as an idiot. Sadly Fleming is also out as she simply can't be honest about her past and experience.
ReplyDeleteI am still troubled by the salzman/wooley/evenson influence with firpo and have concerns about dollison ' s ability to actually clean house but for me it's down to those two.
ReplyDeleteYou should take your own advice.
DeleteAnonymours 9:25 AM - Fleming's experience is head and shoulders about the other 3 candidates.
ReplyDeleteHow can you make a statement (even as an anon troll type)? Fleming is the only one that is 100% up front and completely honest.
If you are going to use your vote, as I hope you will, take some time to check each of the four candidates websites and make an informed decision.
10:00. That was a close one- phew! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHere's what I found:
Thank you for the redirection!
That is 4 1/2 times as much baggage as Firpo with half the experience of Klein and 2/3rds the ethical issues if Dollison. Wait, why would I vote for her again ??
ReplyDeleteok 10:00 am. This is what I found on this site about Fleming and her performance. She said on this audio she was brought in in 2006 to fix the problem which it looks occurred on her watch in 2006:
ReplyDeleteIn 2001
There were 196 CAST Interviews
There were 65 cases received by the DAs office
There were 46 cases FILED by the DAs office
In 2002
There were 215 CAST Interviews
There were 66 cases received by the DAs office
There were 47 cases FILED by the DAs office
In January of 2003, Paul Gallegos took office
In 2003
There were 205 CAST Interviews
There were 67 cases received by the DAs office
There were 40 cases FILED by the DAs office
In June of 2004 Paul Gallegos fired his top child abuse prosecutor.
In 2004
There were 146 CAST Interviews
There were 50 cases received by the DAs office
There were 23 cases FILED by the DAs office
In 2005
There were 155 CAST Interviews
There were 35 cases received by the DAs office
There were 17 cases FILED by the DAs office
In the first four months of 2006
There were 40 CAST Interviews (on track for 120 interviews)
There were 4 cases received by the DAs office (on track for 12 cases received)
There was 1 case FILED by the DAs office.
ONE.
ONE child abuse case filed. January to April of that year.
And now - a report of "a 40 decrease in investigations that led to cases between 2006 and 2009."
A 40% decrease.
40% From what? the 2006 numbers?
ReplyDeleteYou sound like you are in the know here.
DeleteAll these baseless posts against Fleming but be from Richard! Who else is such a low life?
ReplyDeleteYou are so despartate.
Using the Richard for all these posts is what is desperate.
DeleteFace the fact that many people are not for Fleming.
ReplyDeleteTwo things: People who comments are not trolls. Even if they disagree with you, even if they're rude, even if they're wrong.
ReplyDeletePeople who disagree are not trolls.
I am. I'm not deleting you. :)
ReplyDelete@ 4:10 "In 2006, way after it was too late, Paul threw Fleming into CAST" Now actual quote from the Fleming Campaign website:
ReplyDelete"In 2005 District Attorney Paul Gallegos appointed me as Director of the Child Abuse Services Team (CAST." So how exactly do you start off a campaign touting this one single assignment as your leadership experience. Then when people start bringing up facts, like the following:
In the first four months of 2006
There were 40 CAST Interviews (on track for 120 interviews)
There were 4 cases received by the DAs office (on track for 12 cases received)
There was 1 case FILED by the DAs office.
ONE.
ONE child abuse case filed.
Schwartz, another of PVG's buddies, was a disaster as a DDA.
ReplyDeleteAnd after about three years was asked to "resign".
You may remember him as Yougofree.com
The Salzman method is to throw lies and mud faster than the opponent can clean it off. He encourages supporters to repeat the lies until the lies supplant the facts. He then points out how suspicious the opponent looks because they're addressing the invented "problems."
ReplyDeleteFleming has an unblemished reputation.
DeleteSalzman is too busy prepping up Kerrigan and LaTour.
DeleteSince you do desperately want to associate him with Firpo which has been a Maggie tactic since the beginning, let's talk about mud.
DeleteThat's easy to say, but you might want to name the falsehood. Seems like Salzman has done his research. Tell me where the inaccuracy is.
ReplyDeleteThe mud keeps flying. Consider the source.
ReplyDeleteJoel? Mike? Max? Do tell us the source.
DeleteFleming is the obvious choice
ReplyDeleteYes, the obvious choice as who note to vote for. Thanks for that input.
DeleteActually, I think the Services are supporting Dollison?
ReplyDeleteI saw Dollison's Ad and Bob Service is in it.
DeleteOkay, this nonsense about John Wright withdrawing his support for Fleming has got to stop.
ReplyDeleteIt is just more lies from the Firpo campaign.
Several people have withdrawn support for Fleming now. The truth hurts
ReplyDeleteThis is insane. I am not 3:08 (I don't know who is to blame and won't speculate), but I was also shocked by 5/31's Anon 3:34 who said "... the husband of the County Counsel withdrew his endorsement and demanded his contribution back, because he did not want to support the corrupt and incompetent Fleming campaign."
ReplyDeleteThis statement is FALSE.
The contribution was returned because it came in the form of a money order, not a "negotiated instrument" as required by the FPPC. The only thing the campaign can do once received is to send it back. The donor is going to send a check instead.
The endorsement is still there.
3:08 you are a moron. Why assume the Firpo campaign. Ever thought that it could be the Dollison campaign?
ReplyDeleteOr the Klein campaign?
Have you seen the ads Dollison has put out against Maggie.
Typical Maggie supporter, just lie and blame Firpo and her campaign.
10:11 you are the one who does not have a clue, either on the blogs or in real life. Both Maggie and Allan partially list their endorsers.
ReplyDeleteMilt Boyd and the Services were at Maggie's announcement. They were not at Allan's. If they did switch to Allan, which you have no proof of, then all it shows is people are waking up to Maggie's true colors.
To anon 6:30, I agree. 3:08 should not blame Firpo campaign. And I try not to blame candidates
ReplyDeletefor the nasty stuff their supporters say as well (unless they start saying it themselves).
Maggie has always asked her supporters to refrain from blog comments in general, and to avoid
accusing or disparaging remarks about others. However, she recognizes she's not their boss, and she has acknowledged that anyone has a right to question something about a candidate that they don't understand and want to know about. And she trusts people to compose their own letters to
the editors and testimonials, and does not offer any "talking points," nor does she have "attack
dogs" speaking for her as some have claimed. When she has something to say, she says it directly herself, politely and if possible face-to-face.
She does know that we struggle, as do all the respective candidates and their supporters, with the
lies and the malice we see thrown at her. I finally went to see her recently and told her I'd like to refute some of the misstatements I see and offer some facts, and I think she respects that as long as it's limited to correcting misinformation.
I'm still too chicken to post with my name, but if everyone's names magically appeared somehow, I'd be OK with that.
Don't be a chicken. You make your points well, clear and respectful.
ReplyDeleteIt should not require courage to use your God-given right to free speech, especially in support of a candidate in a free and honest election.
These are rarities in the world.
They don't exist in a vacuum, and they won't exist much longer if people are afraid to speak up in as benign a situation as this.
Are you also hiding against the wall at Maggie's events.
To 5/30/14 12:14 (partial response), 5/30 3:42, 5/30 10:54 and 5/31 3:34 (partial response):
ReplyDeleteMaggie was appointed Director of CAST in late 2005 after declining cases and other problems were looked at by the grand jury.
Also, to view another long-winded (facts can be cumbersome I guess) discussion of CAST, see this link:
http://watchpaul.blogspot.com/2014/05/bully-bully.html
So, here are a few more quotes from the following link, but it’s worth reading the whole thing and the 04-05 Grand Jury report and responses for background.
http://watchpaul.blogspot.com/p/child-abuse-prosecutions_09.html
Maggie is simply the best.”
“I can tell you there is no other attorney I admire more in the world than Maggie Flemming,” Jackson said.”
That is the important thing in my mind, to have the attorney available.”
“It (vertical prosecution) minimizes the impact that the criminal justice system has on the child, because you have specially trained people who are dealing with the child.”
ReplyDelete"GRAND JURY REPORT #2005-LJ-01
A Review of the Humboldt County Child Abuse Services Team [dated 6/28/05]
Recommendation 1a: The Grand Jury recommends that the CAST Boards create a leadership position .
• Additional Response from the District Attorney [dated 6/13/06]:
Our office assigned Deputy District Attorney, Maggie Fleming, to fulfill the responsibilities of a director position and to coordinate and make decisions about CAST. Deputy Fleming is an outstanding attorney who is both experienced in and dedicated to CAST.
Haha. GALLEGOS ' S response?
DeleteEveryone was an outstanding attorney to him.
ReplyDeleteYou do not see many comments on the Times-Standard since people had to use their real names.
Some people just can"t be civil. And have no problem lying to ..... I guess promote their candidate.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous just as you have no problem lying and insinuating above.
DeleteNot all information related to particular stories makes it on the blog, 8:53.
ReplyDeleteMaybe one day I will publish the rest of that story.
It's not a pretty story.
