  1. promises promises promises.

She makes it sound so easy, just go to the BOP and ask for more money for attorenys and they'll just hand it over.

    1. Or don't pay your DA investigators $214,692 so you can actually afford attorneys. If you ever wanted to know why the status quo wants Maggie Fleming look at those outrageous salaries and compare that with the fact that Fleming wants only 2 more attorney positions then look no further. "Code Words: Heh bloated overpaid investigation unit, I got your back and so does my soon to be Chief, Mike Losey. Your salaries are safe."

    2. When you actually know how to prepare a budget and you can actually communicate professionally with the Board of Supervisors, yes you can actually receive funds.

Or you can yell and say you will shame them. That approach works for theater, not real life.

  2. Both Maggie and Arnie have avoided questions about jobs promised.

Allan answered the question on LOCO.

  4. Firpo states that the rest of the candidates left because it got too hard...but I stayed.

That is simply not true and she knows it. Paul forced Arnie to retire and Allan to resign.

Maggie, after nine years of working in Paul's dysfunctional office, left to learn something new.

    1. You are delusional. Fleming was given an option to advance and fix things and passed it up. Instead took a job in county counsel making more money and better benefits with even less hours. Now the opportunist sees more money and less work again.

  5. Yes, lets see. This is what Maggie learned. How to lose a $3.5M lawsuit. How to lose a $125K attorney fee dispute to Allison Jackson, who really knew how to run CAST, unlike Maggie. I wonder if that is why Maggie's boss's husband (John Wright) apparently demanded his contribution back on her most recent 460. Apparently Fleming is in hot water in the County Counsel office and might not have a job there much longer if she does not win the DA's race.

  6. 11:36 forced Arnie? I am laughing so hard. Yeah, Arnie is a pushover.

Allan resigned and we know why.

Maggie leaving had nothing to do with dollar signs.

  7. Allan was escorted out by DA Invs....
    Maggie left for greener pastures....
    I left because I could...

  8. Unless you have or do work at the DA OFFICE you have no idea what is really going on. The moral is at its lowest thanks to you know who and it will continue under elan firpo. Employees are not valued. Only the A team investigators are even though they don't do much but work only four days a week and get paid for a ten hour day even though they only work nine hours. Yes and personnel is aware of it and had instructed Gallegos to fix it but he never has. So the question is will the new DA have the balls to make the right changes in the investigators section so prosecutors can finally get help investigating their case and leave the drug busts to the cops. Also, the overtime spent on the investigators each year is outrageous. Before Gallegos no overtime was allowed. Under his administration, overtime has ballooned. Will the new DA put a stop to that as well? These are our tax dollars being abused and mishandled. Enough is enough.

  9. Anon you are so full of it. County counsel loves Maggie. She will be a huge loss for them if she wins. Elan is the one that should be dusting off her resume, because when she loses none of the current candidates plan to keep her on staff. Firing her will be the first order of business along with the chief investigator.

    1. Desperate, desperate, and more desperate. If this is a Maggie troll, then you must be scared and beyond desperate. If this is an Arnie troll, well your 5 divorces were never made an issue in the campaign because your opponents are not desperate.

  12. Humboldt County politics, how sick and twisted the level of attack when it goes into the personal lives of candidates and not their work records in office? Where's that at? It's only what they do in office that counts. What they do at home is their own business and their own lives unless they are flagrantly violating community laws. I don't think we have any Fords running for office here, an Edsel maybe, and a Yugo or two, but that's to be inspected..

  14. Folks did you know that to be a judge you must have a minimum of ten years experience as an attorney. Yes that is correct, ten years. So why would this community even consider someone with only 4 1/2 years experience as an attorney for the position of DA?

  17. Arnie at 8:55. Kudos to you. You actually made a post in your own name that was factual and the sole purpose of which as not to beat up Firpo. Should have tried that tactic a long time ago and maybe people would have voted for you.

    1. I don't think Arnie realizes how much of a turn-off to female voters he is.

  18. Wondering why Maggie isn't one here? A little birdie tells me she refused an independent interview and is instead having her supporter Leslie Lolich do the interview with planted questions. Teleprompter candidate strikes again.

  20. Some of the comments are the same ones Arnie has used like 4 1/2 years and being DA.

The anti Firpo comments and will be fired from the office, again, from someone worried about their job if Elan is elected.

With six days to go, Arnie needs to stop and have his minions stop attacking Firpo and try and save face because no one talks about him in the DA's race because he is a non-issue.

Maggie, Allan and Elan supporters need to wake up. Blogs do not elect a DA. We have heard the same lines over and over again.

Get out and get support for your candidate or stay here slinging mud.

Which do you think will help on June 3rd?

  21. For the record:
1.Fleming did not lose a $3.5 million lawsuit. That was the cost of previous lawsuits - before her time.
2.She didn't lose the Jackson lawsuit. My understanding is that she was one of the trial lawyers - they do not make the decisions. The county settled the case.
    3. The misinformation about CAST has been thoroughly debunked. Fleming did as well or better than anyone could considering the tragic situation created by Gallegos - everyone involved in CAST has said so.
4.The $214,000 DA Investigator "salary" was largely lump-sum payment for unused vacation, etc. time at retirement. The ones who got that contract served when pay was lower and the county offered certain retirement benefits instead. Those guys and those contracts are gone, and they're not coming back. Mr. Losey explicitly said he would not.
    5. The widely quoted # of 19-20 attorneys when Gallegos took office is actually from 2001, when the DA's office also included Family Support lawyers who became state employees in 2002. In 2002 and 2003 the # was 16, 2004 14, 2005 13, 2006 and 2007 16, 2008 13, 2009 17, 2010 15, 2011 and 2012 12. Gallegos now can't even fill the open slots. So 14 as a minimum is probably doable - barely - but takes into account the current state of the county budget.
6.Here is a quote from another thread where the same unfounded accusation is posted.
"This is insane. I am not 3:08 (I don't know who is to blame and won't speculate), but I was also shocked by 5/31's Anon 3:34 who said "... the husband of the County Counsel withdrew his endorsement and demanded his contribution back, because he did not want to support the corrupt and incompetent Fleming campaign."
    This statement is FALSE.
The contribution was returned because it came in the form of a money order, not a "negotiated instrument" as required by the FPPC. The only thing the campaign can do once received is to send it back. The donor is going to send a check instead.
    The endorsement is still there.
    6/01/2014 5:12 PM "

  22. 10:03 that's rather comical and probably a little flattering for Klein that you think he has minions. If we go by signs, then he maybe has ten supporters, of which he might truly have one minion.
