  3. You know, it is funny, despite the huge financial meltdown on Wall Street - the real people i know here are doing fine, going about their normal lives, hearing the bad news on the television, but more or less unaffected. We are insulated here, from both the highs and the lows - are you finding the same thing?

  6. Ahhh - Godt Nyttår (Norwegian!)

    This one is funny, too...

May peace break into your home and may thieves come to steal your debts.

May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet for $100 bills.

May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips!

May happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy

May the problems you had, forget your home address!

In simple words ............ May 2009 be the best year of your life!!!

    May it Be!

  7. This was an incredibly awesome year for me (at the local level.) I got married to a beautiful and wonderful girl, received a great promotion at the ER and got to travel quite a bit.

Of course the ER went under and the country is in the tank, but I will look back at 2008 as a great year. I know you track the news and that is why I am hoping for another "interesting year." This last one was a doozy. I hope the economy turns around and, of course, I hope to find another great job where I get to work with so many talented people.

I am optimistic in a lot of ways.

Nationally it couldn't get worse and President Obama seems poised to make some big changes. Locally, we're surely in for some scandal, tragedy, murder, big-time crime in a small town and surprises that nobody could see coming. That will be countered by the rarely covered acts of kindness, charity, tolerance and everyday good-natured human behavior that makes living here all worth it--even in the rough times.

Again, Happy New Year to you and everyone else out there in Blogland.
