Kidnapping, attempted murder in SoHum - Times-Standard

The following is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office:

On Friday at approximately 3 a.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office received a call regarding a kidnapping and possible murder. Deputies spoke with a 24-year-old man and a 29-year-old man, both from Indiana, who were reported to be in the Laytonville area. The men reported on Thursday they were visiting with a 25-year-old male friend in the Ranch Sequoia area of Humboldt County. At approximately 10:30 p.m., on Thursday, the two men from Indiana were on the balcony of the residence when they heard vehicles drive up to the residence. They heard male voices yelling what appeared to be commands to someone, and then banging on the side of the home. The two men then heard multiple gunshots. The two men went downstairs to find out what was happening, and saw eight males with rifles dressed in camouflaged clothing covering their entire bodies. Each of the male suspects was carrying a high powered rifle. The males then tied the two men to a tree with rope. The two men saw their 25-year-old male friend, the homeowner, had been shot and was bleeding. The suspects dressed in camouflaged told the two men tied to the tree not to say anything or they would kill them. The suspects then ordered the 25-year-old male gunshot victim into a truck at gunpoint and left with him to an unknown location.

The two Indiana men were eventually able to untie themselves and fled the residence and the area. They were uninjured.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office received a call from Jerold Phelps Hospital in Garberville. A 25-year old-male showed up at the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. Deputies responded and met with the gunshot victim, who turned out to be the 25-year-old homeowner from Rancho Sequoia the two Indiana men had reported being shot.

The gunshot victim is expected to live. Humboldt County Sheriff's Detectives responded to the hospital and met with the victim who is expected to live. At this time the motive for the crime is unknown, and there are no suspect or vehicle descriptions.

Humboldt County Sheriff's Detectives obtained a Humboldt County Superior Court Search Warrant for the residence where the crime occurred which they served on 11-29-2013. Detectives located evidence at the scene consistent with the reported crime. The investigation is ongoing.

    Re: Allan Dollison
I made a mistake allowing my name to be used to endorse MR. Dollison before I knew his State Bar history. I called MR. Dollison Saturday and told him that I wanted my name of support withdrawn and he agreed to do so.
    I made a serious mistake.
    Sincerely,
    Keith Taylor

  3. Everyone thinking of voting for Mr. Dollison should look him up on the California State Bar Association web site and read about his discipline history and acts of moral turpitude. Here is sample:On or about 09/24/1997 Dollison intentionally prepared a FALSE Notice of Ruling for a Motion to Set Aside a Default Judgment obtained against his client, Ms. Maisterra. Dollison never filed the motion. Dollison then forged the signature of the Plaintiff’s attorney, Anthony Head, on the FALSE Notice of Ruling for the Motion to Set Aside the Default Judgment as well as the Proof of Service, which Dollison never filed. Dollison was paid by the client to perform the promised work, and was found to have never earned the fees and failed to return the funds. The State Bar Court found that Dollison had committed not less than 6 acts of dishonesty in this single case. But there is more!
On or about 08/22/1997 Dollison was hired to file a bankruptcy petition, the Cruz matter, Dollison cashed the two checks he was given by Cruz. Dollison never returned any of the Cruz telephone calls, and never filed the bankruptcy paperwork. Dollison abandoned his client, and moved out of his office without making contact with his clients. Dollison was found guilty of willful failure to communicate with his clients and failure to return unearned fees.

  4. He claims he learned his lesson, but he was let go from the Humboldt County D.A.'s Office for misconduct in handling cases, and evidentiary non-disclosure as required by law. These are continuing acts of moral turpitude. The man lacks the moral high ground necessary to seek justice. Ask him about this and more.

  5. The incessant claims to "combat" and "leading men in combat" are a bit sad, too. Chairborne Ranger.

  6. Well, here's THIS about that.

Look. I was certainly a vocal critic of Gallegos's hiring of Dollison. the funny thing is, though, that as time went on, and as people bring me information, it emerged that Dollison was not only a diligent prosecutor, he was more honest than his boss, and more dedicated to getting the job done right.

Nearly a year ago, I added the following to all posts about him on this blog. So just add this in to the mix, as you go about the merry business of posting that same comment all over town.

NOTATION: 7/13/2013 - It's an interesting aspect of this blog that other people often get caught in the net, based on their entrance into the Gallegos saga. And so their names live online, to be unearthed whenever they apply for a job. Sometimes the searches that lead people here are for other reasons, but it usually has to do with a job search.

And, so it is that Allan Dollison appears here. His time with the DA's office has come and gone, he rose through Gallegos' ranks, and was slated, some said, to become Assistant DA. He was a loyal player, and, I believe, a true believer.

Through my work here, I am often kept informed about cases, how they're handled, how the various Deputy DA's do their job, interact with victims, and so forth.

And I feel it necessary to say this. I have come to the conclusion, that, for all his past mistake, Allan Dollison turned out to be one of the best and most honest of the bunch, far surpassing his boss, Paul Gallegos.

He has since left the DA's office, and, as is often the case when people leave, I get the chance to talk to them. I have talked with Allan Dollison. And, to his credit, he never once asked me to remove any of this info, as damaging as it is to him. I respect that, and I think it's noteworthy.

If you're looking to hire him, it's worthy of consideration.

I'm not pulling anything down, as that would be a disservice to the facts as they have unfolded, but I am adding this, to mitigate that online-lives-forever reality.

  7. Frankly, I think Keith Taylor, of all people, who seems to be all about getting people second chances in life, ought to have considered what he knew of the man who had learned from his mistake, and gone on to do better.

    Just sayin'.

  8. Frankly, since you do not know what passed between Mr. Taylor and Mr. Dollison, you ought to have considered that since you don't know, you ought to have kept out of this one.

  9. Maybe. I'm reacting to people who are gleefully spreading this around.

This race did not have to turn negative. You have four good people, each with different qualifications, positives and negatives, and all in it for good reason, to fix what is broken.
