Verdict reached in Davis’ child molestation case

Verdict reached in Davis’ child molestation case
ER After a week of deliberation, the 12-person jury found assistant Boy Scouts leader Matthew Christopher Davis guilty on three-of-the 10 charges he faced... “I’m just glad it ended with a result that resembles justice,” (prosecutor Arnie) Klein said...

He faces an approximate maximum sentence of 10 years and eight months in state prison and will have to register as a sex offender with law enforcement agencies wherever he resides, Deputy District Attorney Arnie Klein said.

An unrelated charge will be brought before Judge Bruce Watson on April 2. Davis is accused of stealing a computer from a business he worked for. The computer was seized when Davis was arrested. A date for Davis’ sentencing hearing will be scheduled on April 2 as well.

  1. Brava ADA Klein. 3 / 10 ain't bad. The monster will do many years in prison and will be a registered sex offender the rest of his life.

The Boy Scouts should be ashamed of yet ANOTHER of their leaders being convicted of homosexual child predation here in Humboldt County. They must attract as many if not more than the Catholic priesthood.

  2. Yes, good for Klein for getting a conviction.

  4. They were multiple charges for crimes committed against the same 2 boys. I have met this monster and he comes across as a really nice kid, clean cut, trustworthy and genuine. We are lucky there was physical evidence or his word and demeanor against 2 little boys (brats to tell the truth, I know them) could have gotten him acquited on all charges. 3 / 10 is better than nothing.

  5. Keep in mind that these boys did not come forward to complain. This crime was discovered through investigation after police searched his property when there were hundreds of 911 calls from his (stolen) computer which also contained child pornography and pictures of the boys in question.

  6. Of course, troubled children are often the targets of pedophiles. They are starving for attention and affection, easily groomed and less likely to be believed if they do tell.

  7. AK did a good job with what he had, too bad he closed on a sour note of "resembling justice".
A more gracious exit line, acknowledging the jury's service, the lengthy and thus thorough deliberations, the closure brought to the victims and the community, would have been preferable. He's an experienced trial dog, he should know better.
Still, he brought home the bacon, and deserves full marks for that.

    What???

  10. Yes Fred. He stole a computer from his employer and it was calling 911 repeatedly. Maybe it was trying to be found? LOL Anyway, when the sheriff was checking out the source of the 911 calls, the rest was discovered.

  11. "more later"?. Like what, the jury really didn't convict? The guy's not really going to prison?
Get real. AK went to trial, prepared enough to win (puts him two steps ahead of most PVG hires)
and actually convicted. That's a hat trick, three for three.
If you can't recognize that, you're just a hater with zero credibility.
