Missing Chris

”He's one of the most passionate and one of the brightest persons I've ever known and had the pleasure to work with -- we became almost instant friends the first time we met,” Hockaday said. “And Chris was kind of like that with people, even people he didn't agree with. Instead of just having opinions, he really put his horsepower behind the issues he believed in.”

Crawford didn't shy away from controversial issues. He was an outspoken opponent of Measure T -- which banned outside corporate contributions to Humboldt County elections before being struck down by the courts -- and more recently, supported Measure N, which paved the way for a zoning change on Eureka's Balloon Track property.

In lieu of flowers, his wife is asking that donations be made in Chris Crawford's name to the local office of the American Cancer Society, 2942 F St., Eureka, 95501, or to any charity.

  1. Sad news. Condolences to the family. I enjoyed my brief time with him, had him on KMUD show once, good show, a good even-handed man, he will be missed.
