The state of California

Great editorial in today's TS ◼ Here we go, again

How many times have we watched this unfold? The state fails, in a thousand ways, to manage its budget properly, so in its desperation to eek one more fiscal year out of a rigged and flailing system, it may turn to what voters in 2004 decided should be off limits -- local government revenue....

What's the answer? Stop spending? Boot out every single state legislator except McClintock? Reverse the state's anti-business environment and welcome in new and thriving businesses who pay taxes, hire people and spend money?

  1. Walmart's throughout the county. That will solve our problems.

Contort it anyway you like - Rose's point is still right on the nose.

    Have a good day

  3. Pointing to WalMart is an oversimplification - and a common tell of a "progressive mind" at work.

Pretend it is about WalMart, and enable the continuing exodus to continue. Because for God's sake, the last thing a "progressive" wants is a healthy and thriving business community. No, they want all kinds of freebies and state mandated giveaways, but have no concept of what pays the bills. The adolescent "progressive mind" is gimme gimme gimme, and they have run the State of California into the ground.

But, hey, you'll have all the lightbulbs you want, as long as they are the twisty light bulbs the state allows.

    Poor fucking dumb people.

  4. The state is too big and is unable to enforce broken laws which already exist so macrobusiness can lobby its way into avoiding large penalties so the little guy, much less out of compliance with whatever law, becomes preyed upon (see Jason Singleton).
That was the problem with that measure that went through last November in regards to the housing of chickens.Dirty attorneys combined with a busted system can lead to preying upon small farm owners at the behest of agribusiness, and bit by bit,put the smaller farm under.
Big business and big corps can be a problem,no doubt, but the biggest problem in this state is that it's the small businesses who are forced to take the hit due to the 3 L's(lobbyists, legislators, and lawyers) being far too influenced by big industry which will avoid being fined by influencing the political field at a fraction of the cost of paying fines.

  5. Rose: Pulling out the F word before 9am? Too early to get that steamed.

Just a note: I tried to go that "curly" light bulb route, and had bad luck. They did not last as long as the plain old ones and I wrote to "Greenlight" and they sent me replacements. But another problem was they do not fit the fixtures and are too big in some cases.

Low and behold, we had a PG&E person come out to do a energy audit. We showed that we had many of the Greenlite bulbs but had the cumbersome problem with some. They have newer technology and had bulbs that fitted our fixtures and so our house is so much more efficient. (We had less than a $80 bill last month.)

    What a "progressive" change!

  6. The same PG&E that gives reduced rates on electicity to marijuana growers because they don't have a real job/income? And they use the electicity, thousands of KW hours a month, to grow marijuana which they sell to kids and don't pay taxes on the income? What a great place to live.

Don't many of the pot growers consider themselves "progressives"?

What happened to the pot grower in McKinleyville that shot the marijuana robber after the theft when he was driving away? Is Mr. G. going to prosecute that grower for the shooting?

Who wants to bet that Cobb has one in every fixture of his mansion/scam nonprofit headquarters?

New Post. Population reduction 500 million

Hey Rose, please link to my blog.

  9. They do not give lower rates just to dope growers. They have programs of reduced rates to different populations with reduced incomes. Folks that grow dope just happen to be able to take advantage of them. Not condoning, just stating a fact. Again, most growers are not selling to children although eventually some of it goes there. As for most growers being progressive, not hardly. It is a huge spectrum of people who are growing. Many who are just trying to feed their kids and keep their house. Many because the progressives have ruined the timber and fishing jobs here.
    Mresquan raps the progressive rap.

  10. Apparently there is hope at last. mresquan begins to understand the practice of "rent seeking".

  11. Consider it done, Nick. I used to read it when you posted on Buhne, didn't know you were still active.

  12. Rose, I was being serious about Walmart. We need to get more low cost retailers in the county who will also bring in plenty of new jobs. Please don't ever call me a progressive again!

  13. McClintock's in congress now, I believe, not the state legislature.

  14. Good god, Rose is linking up with Bravo/Fenster. The end of the world has arrived.

  19. wow, thats great, Rose curses out a commenter who was being serious about Walmart. Always so angry!

  20. Barfo you idiot. It's called Article 1 Section 8 of the United States Constitution. I hope some day you get a job, so that maybe one day you will be audited, so that maybe one day you will end up behind bars where you belong.

  21. Mresquan/4:26 is the idiot. The A.1Sec.8 mentioned doesn't give the feds any right to tax personal income at variable rates.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I assume that 5:52 is assuming that I made that 4:26 post,which I did not.
Or maybe 5:52 is just trying to let me know that the 4:26 poster is an idiot.Don't know.

  23. Did the anonymous nobodies calling for my imprisonment even watch the link I put up? The link was to an anti-taxation movie called From Freedom To Facism.

Probably not. As is the case with most progressive anonymice they are hateful towards those who can make money and even more hateful of those who get to keep it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Or perhaps the comment was written by someone who might not be a progressive.I hope that you don't always make assumptions like that.
And no,I didn't write the comment.

    ReplyDelete
  25. No Esquan, I don't think your so much of a coward that you'd post anonymously. I disagree with most of what you say, you have the right to say it, and the fact that you link your name with your comments makes you much more respectable than the anonymous trash that populate the humboldt blogosphere.

  26. mresquan isn't his name, Nick.

And Nick's not yours either, Ryan.

    Now go call your mother.

One with a quarter of a brain could figure out how to find my name.Sometimes I just like to make people figure things out for themselves.
