Return of Salzman

Protect the Humboldt brand

Wants to profit off legalization of POT, and PROTECT that profit. My, the worm does turn.

  1. If you can't spot at least six things wrong with his editorial, you ain't looking.

    What a load of crap!

  2. Funny how someone who was supposedly a champion of the very letter of the law, the minute details of compliance, and set out to destroy a "humboldt brand" defends criminal behavior, and seeks to profit from a capitalist endeavor.

  3. So pot shouldn't be legal because Salzman supports the concept and writes a my word?Geez, get a grip.
So if one can, tell me what is wrong with the points he makes, without sticking on one's dislike of him personally.

  4. Oh, I have already said I think it should be legal, mresquan, if only to put an end to this charade, and hold the criminal tax cheats accountABLE.

I wouldn't feel so strongly if they hadn't been exerting their muscle in local politics, and creating havoc, attacking other industries and enthroning disastrous politicians like Gallegos.

Surely even you see the irony of the shut-it-down crowd suddenly wanting to "protect' their anticipated business enterprises and interests.

Justice will be served when they are hauled into court for their violations of increasingly onerous environmental, labor and others regs. And we will see how these hypocrites follow the laws they have demanded be put in place. ASJE, and all the other dirty dealers will be exposed for what they are. Opportunistic activist shams.

  5. Yup, legalize it and tax the hell out of it. Poor Mark will just have to find another line of work.

  6. Get some new material.Your spiel is old.

  7. Salzman's opinions about protecting Humboldt brands are reasonable. Why shouldn't small growers be protected once the laws are changed and competition is coming from tobacco companies. When that time comes paying taxes will be part of doing business in the marijuana industry. Not that Rose and others who despise Richard Salzman would buy his Humboldt brand because it tastes like burnt hair and would make them sick. On the bright side, they would have something to blog about Salzman and how he gives them a bad taste in their mouths.

  8. Actually - it's not a new idea by any means - even I asked the question months ago in a discussion of legalization.

That's not the point. The point is the shut-it-down attack-dog-activists, who like to use arcane bits of wording in official documents to go after OTHER industries, businesses and corporations, have no respect for laws themselves except when it serves their aims, and now talk about seeking protection for THEIR "business interests."

    Now they want "protection."

    It's rich irony.

  9. Golly, don't Konkler take those barbs personally.

    Namely, because it is personal.

    For him.

More to the point, these growers of all stripes need to follow basic health and safety codes to produce what they call medicine.

You wanted legalized medical pot, you got it. It's just that you have to follow all the other laws at the same time.

Like paying your taxes on your actual income, eh Mark?

  10. Rose you seem to insinuate that local progressives are involved in the growing/distribution/sale of marijuana. What evidence do you have for this? Of whom do you speak?

I didn't see any arcane bits of wording lifted from official documents in Salzmans's opinion piece. Why the frenzied response? Why have you created all this drama? Is it about taxes or about allowing a small business owner have a small piece of the pie. God-a-mighty I haven't seen this much rue since my last divorce. Seems very personal to me. This doesn't have anything with unpaid child support does it? Oh my, that would be ugly.

  12. Rose, Salzman could declare that Jesus is our savior and you would find a way to disagree with him

  13. He did that yesterday and today joined the International Jewish Anti-Zionist organization and denounced Israel as a racist apartheid state. Next, he's set to become the next Cardinal of Humboldt Diocese after he gets his colors from the Aryan Brotherhood when he gets out.

  14. Of whom do we speak?

Harmony Groves for one. Larry Glass for another (and by his own admission).

    ReplyDelete
  15. Harmony Groves and Larry Glass? Where is the evidence that either one even touches Marijuana let alone grows, distributes and otherwise profits from it? Rose you are just smearing these people with vile and vicious lies. How dare you Rose.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I spoke to a neighbor of Harmony's who detected the overwhelming stench of pot grow when coming to her front door once.

Larry admitted right when he started his campaign that he did the "Bay Area run" to make the money he needed to open The Works.

No need to blame Rose for disclosing these well-known facts, I knew them already. But she does deserve our thanks for spreading the word about these fake liberals and their lawless ways.

  17. Lets hear it from Rose. Which local politicians or their associates are profiting from Marijuana? Don't hide Rose, come out and say it.

  18. You can say that the pot growers are the "shut it down" crowd I suppose. But they are the "build it up" crowd as well. As far as I can tell more seed money, and private business loans in the county are funded by weed money. More than by banks and grants by far. They tend to be a risk taking crowd with lots of disposable income and investing in local business ventures works for many of them as a way to move the cash.

My bet is that there is far more of our economy (including many of your conservative buddies) started and kept afloat by the pot people than shut down.

  19. Guess we'll see how generous and adventurous they are when they get to pay 50+% of their incomes in taxes, and have to comply with all business regs, fees and license restrictions.

When it is legal and relegated to AG lands, the neighborhoods will be free of the growhouses and the violence. they'll have to meet electrical codes, discharge codes, be subject to business and license fees, employee withholding expenses, paperwork and red tape. they'll have to provide health coverage for all their workers. I'm sure we can count on ASJE to demand that.

And someday, the Salzman equivalent will come along and with a Mark Lovelace.Ken Miller equivalent, hound then to within an inch of their lives over their diesel spills and pollution, and arcane bits of language in obscure legal documents.

  20. Incidentally - when it comes to Humboldt brand - did you know Salzman has an "international" business as an artist's rep?

And, Humboldt has the highest number of artists per capita.

How many Humboldt artists are represented by Richard Salzman? Should be a gold mine for him.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Just a local businessman bringing international recognition to Humboldt area artists and paying his taxes. Good on him. Where do you buy art, Rose, Walmart? They've got a great discount picture aisle, don't they? The one of the dogs playing poker and smoking cigars would look great over your sofa. The big one is only $12.99 on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  22. That is actually a pretty decent price, Rose. Maybe the white costumed Elvis painted on black velvet is more your style? The sequins really glitter!

  23. Rose, are you going to answer 2:03 PM?

How about the other tough questions that you've refused to answer before, such as your stance on gay marriage, or on abortion, or assault weapons ban?

  24. Hello? Anyone home?

  26. Hello? Gonna comment?
