Someone in the executive branch must have requested the funding for Gunrunner

Project Gunrunner Got Stimulus Money - John Hayward
Poster “Domandred” at Free Republic dug through the text of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, otherwise known as the “Obama stimulus,” and discovered that an earmark of ten million dollars for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives was rolled into the bill.

Part of that earmark came from House Resolution 495, the Southwest Border Violence Reduction Act of 2009. This bill explicitly included $15,000 in funding for Project Gunrunner.

That funding did indeed make it into the Obama stimulus act:
For an additional amount for ‘State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance’, $40,000,000, for competitive grants to provide assistance and equipment to local law enforcement along the Southern border and in High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas to combat criminal narcotics activity stemming from the Southern border, of which $10,000,000 shall be transferred to ‘Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Salaries and Expenses’ for the ATF Project Gunrunner.
We need to know who pushed this Gunrunner funding into the Obama stimulus, and then the President must be made to formally admit – under oath if necessary – either he knew about Project Gunrunner all along… or he had absolutely no idea what was contained in the trillion-dollar stimulus package he boasted of passing without a single Republican vote.

Too bad to check: Project Gunrunner was funded by … the stimulus - HotAir
I really did think it was too bad to check, despite posts about it at PJM, Weasel Zippers, and Free Republic. But I checked. You’ll find complete PDF and text versions of the final stimulus bill right here. Scroll down to page 16 (of 407!) in the PDF version and behold:
For an additional amount for ‘‘State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance’’, $40,000,000, for competitive grants to provide assistance and equipment to local law enforcement along the Southern border and in High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas to combat criminal narcotics activity stemming from the Southern border, of which $10,000,000 shall be transferred to ‘‘Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Salaries and Expenses’’ for the ATF Project Gunrunner.
And to think, you guys say the stimulus didn’t produce anything. It produced guns for Mexican drug cartels, didn’t it? Says Ben Domenech, in a stroke of perfect black humor: “Shovel ready.”

See what happens when Congress doesn’t read the bills?

earmark for funding of gunrunner in the stimulus?

So the big question is - WHO put it in there? And then, of course, WHY?

  2. "Mike Vanderboegh and David Codrea over at Sipsey Street Irregulars have broken news this morning that Holder/Clinton/Obama-Jarrett also were walking guns out of Florida into Honduras.

    Here’s the money quote:

“There are emails in existence where (Special Agent in Charge Virginia) O’Brien has advised those involved that Tampa does not have to report their walked guns because Tampa FD is not a part of Southwest Border or Project Gunrunner.”

  3. Yeah Rose ... anon thinks you should just get a job, and turn a blind eye to whatever it is that his Messiah is up to! Apparently, anon sees nothing hypocritical about selling guns to criminals as long as it furthers the anti-gun agenda. It's the law abiding citizens like you and I that he wants to see disarmed. Apparently, we pose a much greater threat to the Obama regime than those hardened criminals and drug lords.

These people should be ashamed of themselves, but sadly, they don't think there's anything wrong with what they are doing. It's time we explain it to them. I hope to see everyone involved arrested and prosecuted, right up to and including Obama.

  4. This is a big issue, really BIG. I even took the time to write my congressman about my concerns on this issue, something I have only done one other time in my adult life, I'm in my mid 50's.

If this was just a low level or mid level management type that approved this insane operation that person would have already been thrown under the bus.

Someone in a major position of power within the ATF/Dept of Justice had to approve this. it should be an easy answer! Who signed off/approved this? There is (or was) a papertrail, memo's and or email. That's the way the government works.

With the way "they", the Department of Justice is stonewalling Congress (Issa) I would guess this goes way up, like to the AG or the President.

Somebody needs to be fired at a minimum, and quite possibly prosected.

  5. If and when the truth about this program comes out, heads will indeed roll. This has to extend up to the highest levels. If the program had simply been selling and tracking weapons, with intelligence being gathered and shared with Mexican authorities, it would have been short-lived, arrests would have been made, and it would be over by now. The fact that it was allowed to continue, no guns were tracked or recovered, no arrests were made, and no actions were taken against the drug lords tells us that the program had ANOTHER goal. It's becoming quite clear what that goal was ... furthering Obama's anti-gun agenda.

This is criminal activity on the highest level. Our media needs to drop their partisan bias and join the public in a FULL investigation of this administration. If they don't, they will be considered complicit in these crimes.

  6. Good information Rose. This needs to be in the public eye all the time. Something is REALLY wrong.

Wasn't it Hillary talking about how all the guns used in the Mexico vionence came from the US, blaiming the guns dealers. The President of Mexico said the same thing.

You have to wonder about the moron that thought this up and the complete moron's in positions of authority that approved it! The guns were not disabled, they were fucntioning firearms. They didn't have littel GPS's in them.

This "Fast and Furious" or "Gun Runner" thing was supposed to waht ?????? Track cartel members? This was complete idiocy on it's face. The guns could only be traced after they were seized during arrests or after crimes had been commited. What could that do to identify the heads of the Mexican Drug Cartels.

This goes all the way to the top of the Department of Justice (Holder) and maybe even to Obama. The low level ATF agents that complained had the brains to realize these guns would be used to commit crimes in Mexico (and the US). The people that allow this to occur (Fast and Furious or Guu Runner) are too clueless (stupid) to be in government service.

keep this going Rose, there is more here than meets the eye. Guy in Ohio is on the mark.
