  2. Ok this is really disturbing. If the appeal is dismissed then Judge Feeney's get out of jail free card is still valid, and Paul will be able to plead the case out before Maggie comes in. This has to be stopped. This is like Clinton pardoning people at the last moment. If Littlefield gets a deal, I will bet you dollars to donuts that Paul ends up in a partnership with Russ Clanton. Does the corruption in this county ever stop? Welcome to Humboldt, where just in case you don't like Zombie Tweakers, we'll be happy to hook you up with child molesters!

  3. Anonymous 4:25 brings up a good point. How many cases will Paul plea bargain for his buddies before Maggie takes office.

I haven't even seen him at the Courthouse for atleast two-three weeks, maybe longer.

I do report on as many cases possible.

ADA Kelly Neel is there in court daily, helping DDAs. What is Paul getting paid for? To make deals with his buds that his staff needs to justify.

  4. Kelly Neel is sleazy and is a poor lawyer.. She does Pauls bidding but even does that poorly. She is also ethically challenged due to her involvement in supervising attorneys to plea bargain cases for her defense attorney husband. God forbid a victim stands against her or that office because she trashes them. She ought to be sent packing as soon as possible.

    1. Sure, let us believe the word of an anonymous commenter who trash talks about someone else but has no guts to use his or her name.

Anonymous commentrs with an axe to grind have ruined free speech locally. To you anon, what have you ever done to contribute besides shoot your mouth off.

There is a lot of bs and "deals" in Humboldt County. Work to change it. Most anon commenters talk a lot but do nothing.

    2. She's also working hard (I could use the vernacular) to hold things together. You can say what you want, but give her credit. She's working in impossible conditions, with no back up - and nowhere to turn for help. No mentor. No steady hand at the helm, just her trying to make sure things don't fall apart entirely.

    3. Nope. Know her too well for that. And john I have been in law enforcement for years and KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT.

The election was not only about ridding that office of his incompetence and corruption but also the systemic incompetence and corruption of his underlings who have screwed good cases, let violent criminals skate, treated victims and cops like shit and are an embarrassment.

    4. Anonymous, I agree with most of the comment above. Just drop the attitude. And trash talking Kelly Neel.

Being in law enforcement does not make you an expert or God. Some of us are not in law enforcement and we have been speaking out for years, with our names.

Have you supported a decision by your superiors that was not kosher. Use your name so we can check your record.

Working when you can be fired at will has issues. Tenure does not. You have protection. Kelly did not.

  5. The people that were told to
leave Firpo and McKimmy have already left. No house cleaning coming. Just Keat and Isaac as part timers. Sheriff is getting all the Z money and the DAs office will wallow in incompetence. I wish a housecleaning was coming but it is not.

  6. By "housecleaning" I take it you mean firing a bunch of Deputy DAs because they were hired by PVG. The problem with that is that you need to have someone to replace them. The Humboldt DA is chronically short-handed, partly because of Humboldt's remoteness, patrtly the poor pay and lousy benefits (as compared to other attorney positions statewide) and partly because the office has a bad reputation. So there isn't going to be a "housecleaning" because Ms. Fleming is not a moron, she knows she can't replace everybody because nobody wants to work there. I don't know that there needs to be, frankly, because I think the worst you can say about most of the DDAs is that they are poorly trained and have picked up bad habits. The ones that are smart enough to listen to Keat and Isaac might even turn out to be good prosecutors.

    1. Well we know that Gallegos cleaned house and those that he didn't get rid of left on their own accord. To a number for greener pastures all over the state for the same reasons you noted. Then Gallegos cleaned house a second time and got rid of most of the new people he had brought in. So what your left with are 3rd stringers who hate working there today. Those people will leave if they find greener pastures which it is pretty easy to find a better place to work than in Humboldt. So turnover is inevitable and even mass turnover will happen. They have a supervisor currently in the office who will no longer be a supervisor. Typically that does not work out well. At all. In CA, when DAs leave there is turnover. That is a fact. The incredible gravity of the situation in Humboldt virtually guarantees that turnover and upheaval will happen there on a grander scale. All this points to what John Chiv has said many times, that the Criminal Defense attorneys run the Courts in Humboldt.

    2. Thanks anonymous. I look forward to Maggie's administration. But simply bringing back old timers wont cut it.

Isaccs and the old timers need to drop the arrogance and try cases under realignment before any change will occur.

Paul, the moron, continues to collect money and do nothing and Salzman throws parties to honor him.

Salzman, the champion of the working class is a fraud. Cant wait for Dickie's comments and his anon defenders to spin this one or attack anonymously.

    3. Keats and Issacs bailed. These deputy district attorneys stayed in a rough environment. Some need to be fired like Brownfield.

Keat, if he comes back part-time is double dipping into government funds. Let's wait to see what Keats and Isaac will actually accomplish. Until then, stop heralding their return as the next best thing since sliced bread.

  7. I think his name is Keat. Oh lookie here. He likes to violate people's civil rights to the tune of a half million dollars. I agree Brownfield needs to go. http://law.justia.com/cases/california/court-of-appeal/4th/34/1406.html
