  1. A gift for you- More. Fleming has raised over $118,000.00 as of the May 17th reporting period. She failed to disclose over $50,000.00 in media buys on a 496 as required by law. Looks like hiding this little $2500.00 contribution and her mea culpa was to cover a much bigger story. The fact she has broken every record for fundraising and spending in a primary and hidden the money until the absentee ballots were in. Precisely what the late expenditure rules are there to prevent. I'm thinking a lot of people would have never voted for her if they knew the story and they saw where her money was coming from.

    1. It is well known that I am supporting Elan. In the case of those media expenditures, Maggie's campaign did nothing wrong.

She does not have to file a 496 for campaign expenditures, she does if they were independent expenditures.

  2. Good they won't vote for her then in November. Her denial of that fact is breathtaking.

  3. Reading Chiv's article, add together what Elam and Alan raised and double it and you have what Maggie raised. Scary. So Rose, still Salzman making these races expensive? Maggie just beat anything Jackson or Gallegos ever did through June.

  4. Just have to laugh at the last ditch efforts of the dirty pool players to smear Maggie. She gets the most funding because most everyone with any sense of justice in the DA's office wants her in. And in she will get and bye bye all the political Prog rot in the DA's office.

  5. John, apologize for libeling my name or produce proof of your attack on me saying I threatened you in some comment on your blog. You're not above review of your ethics, John. Show some ethical backbone and answer me.

    ReplyDelete
  6. What is it with this slide into the ethical sewer with people who get involved with Progressive politics? I back Maggie, John back Firpo, and BOOM! out comes John's imitation Richard Salzman hit on Humboldt County's Christian sweetheart of a social critic and humble servant of the Most High..

  7. Why doesn't the link to Klein's work?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Klein is not a serious candidate. He is a nice guy, he has some folksy sayings, but nobody really takes him seriously on his run for DA, not even him.

  9. Maggie Fleming has outspent Virginia Bass!

This is the first time she has decided to run for office and the money pours in the coffers. Yes, Maggie will watch out for the People.

  10. John Chiv reports crime every day and here he pulls a community crime of libel hit and run, lobs his smear grenade and then goes and hides out, much like the criminals he reports.

  11. I'm sorry, NOT, but I don't put up with this shit from John Chiv or anyone:

John posted this attack and has run away like the coward he claim I am.

    Here's John:

"You just go from blog to blog like a coward stalking and yelling. You have not made any difference other than leave hateful comments on blogs and blame others."

As if I ever back down from anyone who tries to pull stunts like this libelous smear of my name just because I dared criticize what John thinks of himself as joining some sort of group of Brahmins above reproach. Not in Humboldt County..

    John again:

"If you had achieved anything you would not feel the need to attack me, Rose, Hank, Judy, Eric and that is to name a few people.

And John's hit and run grenade:

"If it were not for Rose sticking up for you, I would have forwarded the nasty, threatening comments you left on my blog to the authorities expressing physical harm to me."

Show these comments of mine "expressing physical harm" to you, John, or nobody will give you credence after I've exposed your dastardly deed to the world when it's published in the Rio Dell Times newspaper where I've got an insider scoop position 'cause I walk past their house-office on my way to the library..

    1. Stephen, your clinical obsession with John Chiv and complete disrespect of Rose has been noted.

No one except Rose responds to you because you refuse to get help for your obvious mental issues.

If this anger is for any other reason, then your own words are now on record for all of us to see and they prove John Chiv's points, not yours.

Stephen, no one is obligated to read or respond to you. So if you cannot engage in discussion like an adult, then be ignored.

That is your real problem. You want to be heard, you are not because of your own lack of communication skills.

  12. Good for you all - Rose, Richard, LoCO, TS for focusing on 460s. I wish I had time to post them online, but I don't. A future project for future elections.

But yes - feed and frenzy away. Understanding money in politics will be essential to help minimize it's influence and maximize the general public influence.

  13. From Salzman on facebook--

"Paul Gallegos and I will both be down for this event and look forward to seeing our SoHum brotheren on Sunday the 18th at 4:pm at Beginnings in Briceland"

I wonder if they reported the cash donations.

  14. If John Chiv does not respond to his libelous statement on this blog no one should heed anything John Chiv says about anything. We don't need these Richard Salzman ethical sleazebags telling voters who to vote for when they hold themselves unaccountable for their anti-social acts of character assassination and hiding from responsibility for it.

The longer you don't respond, John, the more you sink into the moral quagmire of politicos whose ethics are bought and sold for votes. Votes don't run our County. Elected people do and we don't need those running for office who rely on smearing their opponents names instead of facing the challenges of the real office.

  15. John censors most all of my comments on his blog but I did post to him the gist of my opinion of his moral cowardice in refusal to face me here for his libelous statement. We shouldn't tolerate liars and cheats in these political races. The anons are all cowards so they don't count, but the ones who sign their names to attack pieces must be held accountable when they don't give truthful information for voters but give a stack of lies served up in back room Progressive homes that are quite a bit better off than the people struggling to make ends meet.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Stephen, you sign your name, big deal.

Listen buddy, people are allowed to have opinions and they can be different than your opinion. It does not give you the right to attack them or question their motives.

You do not have a right to have your comments published. Be glad when they are; let it go when they are not.

You are just a guy who lives on the blogs and likes to blame and whine.

No one takes your comments seriously. You just like the attention.

Here are two quarters, go call someone who cares.

  17. The discussion at Samoa Softball is quite hilarious. Along the lines of, who cares if it's not a Unions shop, how dare you question Chris - besides people can't afford to shop at that Union place, so of course he shops at Winco.

    Ummmm.... disconnect.

  18. Would have been funnier if he had shopped at Walmart.

  21. I really hope the media doesn't let all of Flemings money slip away without some serious discussion. In a time when we can't fund schools, prosecute criminals, show up at burglaries, over twice the national average of overdoes deaths, I simply can't see how this is the best use of money? If funders truly cared about people there would be more money towards the community, and less for a political race of a rural office. This amount of funding would be acceptable for an area such as Santa Rosa. Something is really wrong with this picture.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The campaign that's doing poorly in fundraising always cites superior fundraising as a sin, just as they cite law enforcement support as being suspicious if their candidate did not win law enforcement support.

They all tried to get law enforcement support, and they're all trying to raise as much money as possible, but the wailing and whining from some campaigns is very shrill.

  23. 2:08 5/23
See John Chiv at 3:43. That was good of him to note that no 496 was required.
Did not hide HDSO Contribution of 4/1. Explained why 497 report was 6 days late, but contribution was disclosed earlier on HCDCC application.
Hidden money till the absentee ballots were in? They didn’t even go out until May 5.
Broken every fundraising record? Not by much. Gallegos got $116,005 by 5/26/06.
Where her money is coming from? First, from herself. Not a loan. Putting up her own funds before asking others for contributions. Second, from many people giving small and moderate amounts. Not big money. Not money with strings attached. Grassroots support from lots of enthusiastic people putting aside their differences for something that matters a lot. 460 Forms are all online to see at LOCO.
    2:13 5/23 and 12:19 5/25
Gallegos $116,005 to 5/26/06 plus Dikeman $103,769. (Times Std)
Gallegos $110,785 to 6/30/10 plus Jackson $73,139(Times Std), and Hagen $42,392 (to 6/3/10 per NCJournal).

  24. Here is the real analysis. Where will Fleming's money come from for the run-off. This 460 is clear. Lots of repeat double column contributions. Most if these folks have given what they can and will not give anymore. Her spending is breaking records but the fascinating aspect is she has grossly overpaid her service providers. John Graves and Joel Mielke to name a few. They saw her as the rich candidate and said it will cost this much. Graves did Lovelace and Hagen but did not charge anything near what she was charged. Maggie Fleming will be paying about $11 a vote this primary. Transfer that figure to a projected turnout in November and she will need another $300K for the runofff. There is no way she can raise that, which would equate to about $500K for a job she will only hold for two years, and then run for Judge.

  26. Given Salzman's expected involvement in the race, anyone hoping to have a chance at success had to plan to raise as much money as possible.

    ReplyDelete
  27. So if Salzman wasn't expected to be involved she'd have raised less? No. She'd use the Anti-Salzman meme regardless

  28. I agree that it doesn't make sense for a group to only talk to one candidate. Why they did so would be a good question to ask of the Eureka and Fortuna unions.
On the other hand, all the candidates were invited to Arcata (forum was co-sponsored by police union), HDSO, and PORAC.
Not sure if it follows that it is the candidate's fault if a group only talks to them.
There is another candidate who got endorsed by 2 groups and was the only one invited to speak to them. So would you say that candidate is shady for that reason, or is there a double standard?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Law enforcement shouldn't endorse anyone. They set themselves up for failure. The candidate try endorse becomes their beholden candidate which nobody likes and the candidates they don't endorse, they make the enemy. Neither is healthy.

      Delete
    2. Law enforcement selection has reliably picked the loser in the DA race going back to 1994. No reason to think otherwise in this election in November.

      Delete
  29. Exactly. So they pick a loser, which means they start with tenuous relationship with the winner, and then complain about their relationship. If Downey had any brains at all, he'd have publicly stated he'd work well with any of them and set himself up for success. Nice guy, but not a manager, and grant writer or a good decision maker. Sounds familiar?

  30. It was not Allen, I am not connected to any campaign. I am simply a community member that was stating my observation and feeling about the gaudy amount of money that is going to a race. I do find it interesting that when someone points out social issues that are important to our community health, and that need to be addressed the only person connected to ideologies like that are Dollison. It's a shame that these are not issues that are connected to ALL the candidates.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 1:09 have you talked to any other candidate besides Dollison?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I know of a very prominent community organizer who reached out to the chosen one. She blew him off. He had no money, and his impression was that she did not care one iota about him, so he will never support that chosen one. The chosen one is not for the people and has never done anything for the people. That's fine but don't portray yourself as one for the people when the only way to meet you is to get invited to some Republican 's house and leave a check, which has been going on extensively.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 4:53 don't try and undermine my perspective. In fact I have not even talked to dollison. But, once again a campaign is not listening to the community. Your assuming I am here in support of someone in particular, I am not. If you gave two actual shits about the community that would not have been your response. Pretty lame!

    ReplyDelete

    1. From your defensiveness, the Dollison crew needs to get off the blogs.

I do care and I talked to all the candidates. All of a sudden these positive Dollison remarks are obvious.

Allan Dollison made a huge mistake in hiring Jim Ferguson as a campaign manager.
