  1. Mark seems to be suffering from small-man syndrome. No wonder he's such a kiss-ass to our entrenched local elite.

Glad they promoted Jimmy Smith to chair and Clif to vice, by far the most decent people up there. As far as I'm concerned, 2012 can't come soon enough to evict Love-less.

  2. Jeeshhh...can't you give the guy a chance to prove himself?

  3. Why should I? He proved what a conniving lobbyist he was long before he took office. His longtime association with the Arcata Eye sure doesn't help either.

  4. Fred, old friend the midget has proven himself to be a vile, phony, evil little troll. Hope you speak up about his conflict on voting on the General plan. He will continue to be a slim and will follow Bonnie hand out for cash into infamy.

  5. 8:09,agree but worse is the fact that the guy just gives you the creeps.

  6. Yeah, a grown man driving around in a Miata, and Lovelace isn't openly gay? Something's not right here, and his association with Kevin Hoover is a good place to start.

  7. Oh, c'mon, guys. Mark will be ok. Look, before the TPZ thing I would have said he would be a good fit for Supervisor.

    He may still be.

His active misrepresentation of the TPZ tax situation turned me against him, where I wouldn't have been before - and finding out he was being paid to do all that General Plan work was another big count against him - paid to push an agenda, and not telling the truth about it, not being transparent and upfront about it, that's a problem.

But he is not necessarily a Kool-Aid drinker, and may actually surprise you. We'll know soon enough. Does he have the courage to buck his - I don't think you can call them handlers, I don't think he has handlers, and I wouldn't call them his base either, maybe his brothers-in-arms?

    Can he do it?

I think he will. And then the fun will begin in earnest.

  8. Argh! That photo made me think of that Randy Newman song, "Short People."

    Remember the words folks?

  9. Short People got no reason
    Short People got no reason
    Short People got no reason
    To live

    They got little hands
    And little eyes
    And they walk around
    Tellin' great big lies
    They got little noses
    And tiny little teeth
    They wear platform shoes
    On their nasty little feet

Well, I don't want no Short People
    Don't want no Short People
    Don't want no Short People
    Round here

    Short People got nobody
    Short People got nobody
    Short People got nobody
    To love

    They got little baby legs
    And they stand so low
You got to pick 'em up
    Just to say hello
    They got little cars
    That go beep, beep, beep
    They got little voices
    Goin' peep, peep, peep
    They got grubby little fingers
    And dirty little minds
They're gonna get you every time
Well, I don't want no Short People
    Don't want no Short People
    Don't want no Short People
    'Round here

That is pretty funny. Politically incorrect, but really funny.

  10. I always hated that song. Even after they told me he wrote it about little kids as reflection on their lack of rights or something. I know people who like Randy Newman, but I wasn't one of 'em.

Like I said, give Mark a chance. There are more important things to call out - the DA, for example, and those tribal donations, for another.

We'll see how Mark conducts himself when it comes to the General Plan re-write - and whether he stands up for people's rights, and private property rights, or whether he continues the "Wild California" agenda, the anti-human agenda.

No question that he is the one to watch. But maybe Clif'll surprise me, too.

  11. I saw Clif this morning and congratulated him. I think Clif will be fine. He is a good person and so are Johanna and Estelle.

  12. I would take Estelle Fennell over Mark Love-less any day of the week. I am convinced she retains the capacity to think for herself and remain open to alternative points of view.

Mark Love-less refuses to even grant interviews to those he considers outsiders. At least Fennell has some respect for freedom.

  13. All you got on the guy is he's short? Sounds like a case of small pecker- Don't worry, just drive a big truck, that always does the job

  14. Love-less walling himself off from less-than-ass-kissing interviews, that doesn't sound like a stature issue, at least of the physical kind.

Reminds me of a certain governor, actually...

  15. Loveless doesn't even make a very big turd.
