Move aside, Al.

A Maryland scientist has proposed a public patent that he claims could combat global warming. The proposed plan would require massive amounts of water to be sprayed into the air in an effort to bolster the earth’s existing air conditioning system.

(He) proposes to spray gigatons of sea-water into the air and in effect, build a “a colossal refrigeration system with a 100,000-fold performance multiplier.” He contends a number of positive effects would be in action at the same time to help stave off warming.

“The Earth has a giant air-conditioning problem,” he said. “I’m proposing to put a thermostat on the planet.”

First, the sprayed droplets would transform to water vapor, a change that absorbs thermal energy near ground level; then the rising vapor would condense into sunlight-reflecting clouds and cooling rain, releasing much of the stored energy into space in the form of infrared radiation.

Kenneth Caldeira, a climate scientist for the Carnegie Institution’s Department of Global Ecology at Stanford University whose computer simulation of Ace’s invention suggests it would significantly cool the planet. The simulated evaporation of about one-half inch of additional water everywhere in the world produced immediate planetary cooling effects that were projected to reach nearly 1 degree Fahrenheit within 20 or 30 years, Caldeira said.

  1. Interesting looking blog you linked too, Rose. Anthony Watts was a TV weatherman for 25 years. Jim Hanson is NASA's climatologist. I'll believe Jim Hansen over your weatherman every time.

  3. I'm not sure Rose, or myself, would have much to say if we only listen to what we want to hear.

  4. :) You sure are right bout that, Fred. What a dull world it would be.

But, valuable and important as education is, much as I'd like to believe everyone with a degree knows all, uh uh. Nope. Sorry. Seeing the scientific community fall all over themselves on the Global Warming scam is a tragedy in and of itself. Sometimes the weatherman is smarter than the scientist, I guess, or maybe smarter isn't the right word - less gullible, more likely.

Add to that that in order to get funding anymore they have to drink the Global warming Kool-Aid, and toe the Warmista line - credibility is in question.

Science by consensus, cessation of question and exploration of ideas, squashing dissent - that's what you're seeing. We'll be looking back on this time and shaking our heads. Let's just hope people come to their senses BEFORE it means establishing a whole new way to fleece the public. Fees, and tithing to the new religion. Pay homage to the bishops of the new dynasty. It sickens me.

My opinion. Nothing more. Same, though opposite, as yours, Dred.

btw - do you have to TYPE out Dreadful Anonymous each time? Isn't that tedious? You know you can get a name - don't have to start a blog, just bet signed up so it'll sign your moniker for ya.

  5. Come on Dred you got the solution to global warming, war, hunger and poverty already. All you and your fellow believers need do is set in a huge circle holding hands and chant " OOOOOOOOO=BAAAAAAAA=MAAAAAAA, OOOOOOOO=BAAAAAAA=MAAAAAAA",

  6. "The eight hottest years on record have occurred in the last decade. Ice is melting at record rates all around the planet. The record for least amount of sea ice in the Arctic was shattered in 2007."

"James E. Hanson is almost universally regarded as the preeminent climate scientist in our time. He has been director of NASA's premier climate research center, the Goddard Institute for Space Studies, for twenty-five years, and he has been a member of the National Academy of Sciences for ten."

"According to Hansen: The Earth's temperature, with rapid global warming over the past thirty years, is now passing through the peak level of the Holocene, a period of relatively stable climate change that has existed for more than 10,000 years. Further warming of more than 1 degree C [about 2 degrees F] will make the Earth warmer than it has been in a million years. "Business-as-usual" scenarios, with fossil fuel carbon dioxide emissions continuing to increase about 2 percent per year as in the past decade, yield additional warming of 2 or 3 degrees C this century and imply changes that constitute practically a different planet."

..."Earth's climate is nearing, but has not passed, a tipping point, beyond which it will be impossible to avoid climate change with far ranging undesirable consequences, The changes include not only loss of the Arctic as we know it, with all that implies for wildlife and indigenous peoples, but losses on a much vaster scale due to worldwide rising seas. Sea level will rise slowly at first,...but as Greenland and West Antarctic ice is softened and lubricated by melt-water and as buttressing ice shelves disappear due to warming ocean, the balance will tip toward ice loss, thus...causing rapid ice sheet disintegration. The Earth's history suggests that with warming of 2-3 degree C...sea level will rise about 25 meters (80 feet)."

  8. Dred - The earth is, what? aboutt 4 billion years old and it's only been for a very short time that the climate was/is suitable for human life.

Some people believe the data shows Mankind thrives in periods of warming, and dies off in cold periods.

With ice ages and mini ice ages, and periods far warmer than anything you have seen, with NASA having to correct its data at least twice, with controversy about the stations where temperatures are collected, and with all the evidence shown in the Great Global Warming Swindle, data that Al Gore only showed you pieces of in order to mislead you, with all the debunking that has been happening, not to mention Mother Nature's own debunking (called SNOW and freezing temperatures, Dred,) I have to admire your tenacity.

But look - the important thing, for now, is that we recognize that the theory is worth looking into. As is the coming ice age theory, and any number of other theories. These things should be examined, and debated, and studied, and we should learn from them.

We should NOT state that the debate is over, that consensus is how we decide what science we believe in today or tomorrow.

And we should not set about making laws and charging fees and fines for some shyster's glorified propaganda just so he'll feel better about loosing an election and some people'll feel better about not voting for him 'cause he was such a phony doofus.

Just ask yourself - in the eight years that Gore was arguably the second most powerful man in the world, what did he do for the environment?

In the eight years that he was VP, what did he and President Clinton do about this Oh-so dire situation?

    ZIP-ZERO-NADA.

    That tells you sumthin.'

Anyways, Merry Christmas, Dred. Hope you're done with your Christmas shopping.

  11. Rose, You fail to understand. The debate MUST end or the political collectivists cannot obtain the agreement of the sheeple to go along with the power grab. Hansen is the best scientist that government cash can buy. The Hansen/Bowen book was published in early 2007. Which are the "eight hottest years in the last decade"?

Meaningful surface temperature records have only been kept since 1880 and the hottest on record was 1934. Reliable surface recording sites have been limited to less than 5% of the planet's surface and NO records for 66%+ which include the oceans. Low orbiting NASA satellites continue to record the planet's declining atmospheric temperatures since the spike of 1998. Hansen was caught substituting his computer model results for satellite data.

Even the warmistas acknowledge these facts but contend that the "global cooling is further proof of global warming". All of the warmista produced computer models fail to factor in variations in the sun's energy output. In other words the object responsible for ALL planetary heat is ignored in favor of the REFLECTIVE effects of greenhouse gasses.

Never mind the facts! The government Inquisitors have decided that adopting global warming as the official religion will solidify their power over the ignorant tax paying masses.
