Uber Left-Wing Whackaloons

Dave Meserve wasn't an Arcata City Councilman so he could serve the people of Arcata. He used his position as a soapbox to spout his national views, seeking his 15 minutes of fame. Now you've got George Clark running for Eureka City Council, tilting at his own windmills, national windmills, sending a very clear message to the people of Eureka as to just what kind of City Councilman he will be. I don't know who is writing Clark's material, but here are some clues....

Alec Johnson,
who like Kerrigan was a field organizer for the Edwards campaign
Pretty prolific guy...

Why I Became a Socialist
Why I Became a Socialist
By Alec Johnson

There's more
A democratically planned socialist society, based on genuine democracy in our workplaces and communities, would remove the profit motive from policy decisions, and replace it with democratic assessments of social needs.

And more By Alec Johnson
P-SOL — A New Socialist Party in Brazil

http://lists.cohousing.org/pipermail/mn-prog-events/msg00679.html
But why was the Cuban revolution unsuccessful in spreading to the rest of the continent? What does that mean for today in the context of the resurgence of socialist ideas in Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil, etc.? How do we continue the struggle where Che left off?

If this is the same guy - does George Clark agree with all this? Is this the future you want for Eureka? Right now, George Clark is letting his campaign manager post his own rants on his (or Clark's) new 'blog' and topic number one is going after the Eureka Chamber of Commerce. Now Clark, as a Eureka businessman who wants to be part of the government, ought to be a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Is he? And whether he is or not, does he approve of going after the Chamber? Those're some questions that the people of Eureka ought to have answered.

Right now it look like these are some true uber left-wing whackaloons. But maybe there're two Alec Johnsons...

  1. Pretty interesting that when posts calling for George Clark to explain his positions regarding some of the items HIS blog has posted, the "george clark campaign team" has responded that George isnt in fact the author of the posts.

Well then sheeit, man, why have it on YOUR ELECTION BLOG, especially when you won't take responsibility for the posts?

If it's on YOUR website, one would rationally assume that you (george clark) have the same view points.

Let's hear how some of these subjects which have ZERO to do with being a Eureka city councilperson, are relevant to the campaign - in the words of George Clark himself.

  2. Yeah - I think George has alot of explaining to do.

All that flowery language on the website - all so POSITIVE, but in reality these guys are so NEGATIVE - it's all just hidden behind the happy rhetoric.

It's a message of tear down every existing structure from the Chamber to the Harbor Commission, anything that stands in the way of the temper tantrum, anything that tries to build anything.

I'm curious to know whether the "entrepreneur" was/is a member of the Chamber. Whether he participated in the business community - and I don't mean being a member of "CREG" or the "Eureka Civic Association" or any of the masks.

  3. What with him allowing the posts on his blog, maybe he was the same George Clark that wrote nutty letters to the editor that I have read.

  4. How odd that at Heraldo's you are critical of national issues being brought up in local campaigns but here you are trying to paint Clark as a socialist because a person Clark's campaign manager worked with on the Edwards campaign is a socialist. Are you really this dishonest or just so completely ignorant that you can't see your own hypocrisy? Are other members of your cult as ignorant and lacking in integrity as you? I'll check back to find out.

  5. I'm asking whether Clark also espouses those views. I have to assume he does, since he is allowing them on something as important as his campaign blog, and because what are supposed to be his own posts seem to have that same flavor.

I'm asking if he is writing his own opinions pieces or whether this guy is doing it.

I'm asking what some guy from socialist minnesota has to do with a Eureka race.

'Cause you're gonna hear all the squawks about big-money-special-money-Arkley money thrown at Jager no matter what he does - so I'm wondering, since whatever these guys say can so often be turned right back around to reveal what is going on with them, just what is behind Clark.

    If anything. If anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Arkley is backing Jager?

    ReplyDelete
  7. No. Not that I know of. I'd say it was a joke, but facetious is more like it - anyone who isn't with 'them' is backed by Arkley don'cha know?

    ReplyDelete
  8. You guys are hilarious! Clark doesn't have to answer for the political views of his campaign staff. Last time I checked it was legal to be a socialist in the US so no explanation is necessary.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Who said anything about it being illegal?

It's a question of judgement - and mental fitness.

  10. Anybody who knows Clark knows he is a bit tightly wrapped. Amusing but hard to take seriously.

So he hires a Kerrigan clone to dupe the local voters with some fact-craptoids. I wonder why George distances himself from his own campaign......and claims to be the hero of local business and then hires a hit man pol from Iowa?

Ok...so Alec needed a job and George gets the money from somewhere(?) and the local economy is bolsterrd.

Just one question.....what has George done for the community? What has Alec done besides bringing his twisted, big city politics to our town?

    Ok 2 questions.

I just think that the, out of town Kerrigan/Clark etceterra machine needs to be shown the door.

  11. Must have hit a nerve with the progs, they are going into offensive/defensive mode. Their master plan must be to make Eureka into Arcata South (or Moscow West).

  12. too funny keep on with the smears. a smear from you is better PR than an endorsement from anyone else

  13. Yep 7:59pm.George is doing a smart thing by not being pulled into the blog BS,even though he's maintaining one,and instead going out and knocking on doors and spreading his message to a much wider audience than he'll get through his blog or any other. His office is in the middle of Old Town,as a matter of fact, plastered all over the walls are visions of how EUREKA,yes EUREKA,would improve if voters give George a shot, someone is there every day,not hard to get his number and to meet with him yourself, and it's certainly not hard to walk in there and read the signs,so long as one is literate enough. You should try it.And what does Jager have going for him other than his backers sliming his opponent with an"I'm running against a Socialist"platfrom? And yes Rose,he was a chamber member when he ran the restaurant.

  14. Yikes Konkler.

Do you ever come up for air?

Let's see if I get this. The George should distance himself from his own campaign website? He should walk neighborhoods and not be responsible for what his idiot handlers say for him?

    Are you serious?

If George spends too much time talking to voters, his campaign is toast.

Stick to the sushee George....oh yeah, you didn't do that either.

Common Mark...it takes more than a keyboard to qualify for an informed opinon.

So Mark.......why didn't George hire you for his manager?

just another blown opportunity I guess

"Yep 7:59pm.George is doing a smart thing by not being pulled into the blog BS,even though he's maintaining one"

Sorry dude, but he has put himself smack dab in the middle of the "blog BS" by having a farkin Campaign Blog. C'mon Mark, put the bong down for a sec...do you really think he'd put shit on that blog that he DISAGREED with?

    Einstein at 6:48 says:
"You guys are hilarious! Clark doesn't have to answer for the political views of his campaign staff."

Well, again, that'd be true if these political views were'nt being posted on the GEORGE CLARK CAMPAIGN BLOG.

He will answer for these politcal views, one way or the other - at the polls. Socialist Alec seems to think this will attract more voters. We'll see...

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well. Mark - I don't know - I guess I qualify as someone who likes Jager. More to the point though, is that the sling started on heraldo. And I pointed out that this was unnecessary - that Clark ought to be able to run on his own merits. You know exactly what I mean by that, because you have seen it before, too.

The snark campaign is very subtle - with Terry farmer they put out the SUGGESTION that he had a debilitating disease and was thus unfit to continue serving - oh they back off and say oh they din't mean it, but we have seen that same subtle tactic employed again and again.

So when they started in against Jager, it calls attention to Clark, you have to pay attention because the alternative is putting your head in the sand.

By all accounts he (Clark) is a nice guy. As such, he ought to be able to run and win as himself. NOT as a pawn. But all the signs are there, the heraldo posts... and now this.

You can call it a smear. If asking whether he agrees with the views that are being posted in his name is a smear - I guess I am guilty.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Never once said he disagreed with it.He's just doign a smart thing by spending much more time doing other things, such a talking to voters.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hmmm, looked through Heraldo's archives and can't find any smear on Jager,if anyone can find anything there, let me know.

Sorry for the confusion, but this post didn’t come from George Clark. This blog is administered by Clark Campaign Staff. We will be posting on a variety of issues we feel voters may find interesting from the local to national level, and everything in between.

George Clark’s policies are available on our Campaign website. There you will find substantive policies pertaining specifically to the city of Eureka.

George’s economic policies provide a new direction, towards self-reliance and economic independence. Ironically, if George Clark’s economic policies were in place, Eureka wouldn’t be nearly so vulnerable to the pressures of the National and Global Economy.

    All the best,
    Clark Campaign Blog Team"

"George Clark has made it clear on his website what he stands for. One thing he frowns upon is “red-baiting” Alec or anyone.

Feel free to have a vigorous debate about the issues, but calling people names you consider derogatory would not be acceptable in Council Chambers and it isn’t acceptable here. This isn’t Fox News nor a Rush Limbaugh broadcast.

There are serious problems to be faced and we need serious people facing them. Let’s talk about the issues rather than tolerate strangers insulting each other.

    All the best,
    Clark Campaign Blog Team"

SO - it isn't George's blog after all, is it.

  25. Look, it would take all of 30 seconds for Alec Johnson to start his own blog. Another minute to come up with an avatar. Another minute for him to post the Clark/Atkins campaign bug on his blog - and he can open it all up for discussion - and take ownership of his own words...

I'd even set it up for him. He just needs a name - like socialisthumboldt.

  26. First of all,you are a weak, weak person to run as a joint team. That is so pathetic to begin with. Secound,as we have learned the hard these marginal personalities are most often not that stable in their own persona or political positions, that's why local solutions can hook them, lead them and control them while in office. The other side of the coin is that when they get their hooks into a reasonably good person they turn them into hell fire and damnation anti everything radicals. Little BJ boy Kerrigan is a classic case in point. If Clark has any class he will run screaming from these folks as fast as he can.

  27. They're also afraid of open discussion - or George's "Blog Team" is asleep on the job - My comments over there are STILL 'awaiting moderation' - since the 15th:

    63. This has nothing to do with Fox News or Rush Limbaugh. Throwing them up as boogeyman in order to avoid answering the questions posed as to whether George Clark shares and espouses these views is disingenuous at best.

    64. It’s not ‘red-baiting’ to ask the question. Socialists have particular beliefs - and if he espouses those beliefs the people of Eureka may like to know, since it may affect their property rights, for example.

    65. And, incidentally, it is Johnson himself who calls Johnson a Socialist. Over and over and over again.

  28. Just why is it Necessary to run on a political agenda and not on your own two feet. It strongly suggests a candidate is weak and merely a pawn, and, has nothing to offer except a poltical party's agenda. That candidate will always have to answer to and be controlled by that poltical camp. It also demonstrates a "my way or the highway" approach to working with the other council members. Gee, that'll accomplish a lot. By accepting political party endorsements and running on a poltical agenda, it merely shows a candidate is unable to run on the issues. Partisan candidates already have their minds made up for them on any issue, of course. Where are the "open ears" for all sides to an issue there?? Inclusive indeed. The partisan campaign strategy just won't work. That strategy just serves the Progressive Party, Not the citizens of Eureka. Eureka voters are smarter than that. City council is a non-partisan position, but some camps need to make it partisan so they can deliver misery, not solutions. Partisanship delivers fighting, whining, division, and stalemate- just what the city of Eureka needs right now. Watch for the candidate who is issue and city focused and doesn't embrace the partisan mindset. For some candidates it's too late- they've stepped in it and will never get it off their political feet. Hard to run a clean campaign that way. A non-partisan candidate for the citizens of Eureka- that's who'll get things done on city council for the citizens of Eureka, not a poltical party.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Funny thing is, "progressive" is not a party. It is more akin to the John Birch Society or Moral Majority than to a political party.

They are the most intolerant of people, and you are right about the my-way-or-the-highway approach.

And don't think that they will be tolerant of anyone else exercising any partisan leanings, despite their desire for absolute control, Just look at the hue and cry that arose from that camp when Virginia Bass was in a position to appoint a council member. Don't expect to find any quarter given, nor any search for balance one the "progressives" are in power.
