Some great stories

in the Arcata Eye this week - including an interview with a landlord who is getting rid of his rentals because of the 215 problems. Not online yet.
And this:

Dear grow house owner...

April 8, 2008 Eye Editorial: 'Stuck in legalism'
Hank's Blogthing Direct Action Here’s a photo from Arcata that’s making the e-mail rounds. - You know the sad thing, there, Hank, is that the illegal grower'll get off scott-free while the "graffiti artist" will end up prosecuted...

Kym's series on the Hacker Creek spill continues - I'll try to get all the links up pretty quick. I'm behind.

Perhaps it's not an illegal grow.

We already fought a war over this, and lost,
    Federal Government > State Government

  3. Well, correct me if I am wrong, but it's legal if it is 99 plants or less, if it is in a 10x10 sq ft area, of they have a 215 card, and if it is for personal use.

Nowhere did 215 make growing and selling for profit legal, did it?

That's the sham of the whole thing.

And, like Anon.R.mous points out, there's county/state and then there's fed.

Like I said, abuse is going to ruin it for everyone.

No matter what hte "medical" marijuana sham should end. It should either be legal/decriminalized, or it shouldn't. Stop the pretense.

  4. Deputy Sheriffs endorse Lovelace

So... what's up with that? Any thoughts, Rose?

  5. Well they probably had no clue that the Lovelace's best buddy is Ken Miller (aka Dr. Pot.)

Christ, you would have thought they might have inquired before they endorsed this guy who has aligned himself with the pot doctor.

  6. My guess is that it has something to do with money. It usually does, doesn't it? Plumley seems more fiscally conservative. Lovelace is generally more to the left.

Some liberals and progressives like to complain about cops, but at the end of the day, they're for increasing revenue and they're less likely to try to cut costs by reducing wages and benefits or contracting out services.

Conservatives, on the other hand, will cheer for the cops, but they hate paying the bills that come with the services.

The Sheriffs union is looking out for its members. They probably don't care about Ken Miller or the politics of our local culture wars. They're thinking about the bottom line.

Even if you don't like their choice, you have to admire that.
