  2. We felt it down here in Salmon Creek and we rarely feel them. Our house is pretty solid.

  3. Pretty amazing, huh? I don't remember any other Willow Creek shakes. They're usually off Eureka, Petrolia... I would say it had a gentle rolling wave action, not sharp jerks.

  4. I fell asleep on the futon and slept through it.

  5. My daughter called from her dad's house in Fortuna. She said the house shook for quite a long time. We didn't even feel it here in Loleta.

The nice lady who lived in our house before we did, said she didn't feel any of the 1992 earthquakes. I do feel earthquakes often, but did not feel last nights temblor or last week's temblor.

  6. Does anybody remember - or know what happened to - the guy who could predict earthquakes, magnitude and all, because he got incredible headaches? He lived in Ferndale or Fortuna... used to get written about in The Arcata Eye and probably the TS... this would have been late 70s, early 80s... Did he move? Did he die?

  7. That was Jerry Hurley, Ryan Hurley's (Captain Buhne) dad. He use to teach at Fortuna High. As far as I know, he is still around.

  10. I always wondered how he fared through the Thailand quake that generated the tsunami. As I recall he could feel things half the word away, and his record was pretty good. Too bad all those old articles aren't being transferred to the web. That would be a good project for someone. With Text Recognition software and some proof readers, it could be done.

'Course if the electricity goes out, all online stuff is moot. Including blogs. Funny thought, eh?

  11. Ooops, did I say Arcata Eye? I meant Arcata Union. Long time ago. Before there was an Arcata Eye.
