If Blue Lake Police Chief David Gundersen's wife had made the same rape allegations 30 years ago that she made last month -- or in some other states -- Gundersen wouldn't have been charged with a crime. Read the rest

30 years ago the chiefs wife couldn't have passed a POST background investigation.
ReplyDeleteBut she's not they only one that fits into that catagory (these days).
Wouldn't it be great if elected officials had to pass a background investigation?
In theory that's what the First Amendment is supposed to accomplish (a background investigation for elected officials) , but 1) the local press is ignorant, lazy and indifferent and
ReplyDelete2) the public is even more ignorant, lazier, and more indifferent. Most don't vote, and those who do, vote stupid.
too true
ReplyDeleteThe current spousal "rape" law in Kalifornia is the result of the legislature being turned over to radical leftists and feminists. That "crime" which is now a "felony" was formerly a violation of 242PC (battery) a misdemeanor.
ReplyDeleteknuckle dragger.
ReplyDeleteyeah, 7:15, what a shame that raping your wife is now considered a real crime. the next thing you know, they won't be letting the priests bang the alterboys anymore. so much for the 'good old days.'
ReplyDelete12:22 - what a jerk. Raping your wife has been a crime for 30 years. Get a grip.
ReplyDeletePeople amaze me. Apparently
ReplyDeletesome of them think a wife is supposed to be a willing receptacle 24/7, and others think that pregnant women should not be allowed to use handicapped parking spots. What is wrong with you trogs?
Why would an "unwilling receptacle" remain married to an abusive jerk?
ReplyDeleteWhy not let retards who resort to strawman arguments use handicapped parking spots?
0-60 in 2 seconds. An article pointing out that rape laws have changed suddenly means you think a man should be able to rape his wife at will.
ReplyDeleteNO ONE is saying that.
Really? Don't you read your own blog?

Greek guy thinks it should be a misdemeanor and that anyone who thinks it should be a felony (like rape) is a leftist or a feminist.
why did the greek put the word crime in quotes? obviously the greek thinks that raping a spouse is hardly a "crime"...
ReplyDeletetom: "...the greek thinks that raping a spouse is hardly a "crime"...
ReplyDeletePhysical abuse of a spouse has ALWAYS been a crime and "the greek" has even arrested people for it. The changes in the laws specifying the kinds of abuse and the criteria for arrest and punishment have been changed at the behest of special interest groups and not necessarily for the better. But I suppose it is a matter of one's viewpoint i.e. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) agitates to redefine drunk driving as driving with a blood alcohol level of .02%. Whatever floats your boat, but don't be surprised or enraged if everyone doesn't agree with you.
Oh! Forgive me! I forgot you are "progressive". It's what you do.
How amusing, that Al-anonymous could understand that ΛΕΟΝΙΔΑΣ Avatar represents a Greek Hero, and yet did not read the original comment as being an educational bit of prose, rather than an "opinion" that Spousal Rape should be "allowed"....
ReplyDelete(Oh, you might note that I used quotation marks on opinion and allowed).
Please, if you take me to task, refer to me as "Wolf guy"?
It amuses the hell out of me.
Wollf
Oh.....'scuse me Al...also wanted to point out another Greek word.... διαλεκτική...it means "Dialectic", like in that old Greek guy Socrates?
ReplyDeleteIt kinda refers to a way of discussing an interesting turn of events, or a stance on an observation, or even a "fact". As such, I think "the Greek guy" was grammatically correct in using quotation marks to highlight the "change" or "irony"
Damm, there's those pesky """" thingies again.
Oh, and by the way....I count Leonidas as Friend and Good Man. My guess is that he has done more Good for this world than you might ever do. Please be polite.
Thanks,
Wollf
Greek guy obviously doesn't think spousal rape should be a felony. If he thought it was a good thing he wouldn't have been insulting calling California Kalifornia or blaming leftists and feminists for getting the law changed. Rape is rape whether you are married to the rapist or not. Spousal abuse isn't treated as seriously as assault on non-spouses either, but that will change as well.
ReplyDelete2:06 PM: Are you that professor lecturing the women's studies class at HSU that half of us omitted to attend after the first session? Or was it the seminar on How to score debating points by claiming to know your opponent's innermost thoughts where I met you? And are you blogging from the women's resource center at the Bayshore mall?
ReplyDeleteIf "rape is rape" as 2:06 claims, then why is the stats of male raped not included by the government? Why hasn't to woman lobby groups fought for this? Why is it still taught that women can not rape men?
ReplyDeleteanon.r.mousy,
ReplyDeleteso, gunderson was raped while his wife was sleeping and under the influence of sleeping pills? please explain that one to me. i want a visual, i just cant picture it.
Is it rape or is it just kinky? That would be a question. One of many.

It seems that Greek Boy and the Mous both have serious issues over spousal rape, Rose. Mous wants the women he picks up when he is drunk charged with rape, but he can't remember what they looked like well enough to file charges. Probably a good thing. LOL
ReplyDeleteYou can say that if you're jokin' - Theo, Anon.R and ΛΕΟΝΙΔΑΣ are good guys.
ReplyDeleteLook, domestic violence is always weird - sometimes it is two people fighting and saying things they really later wish they hadn't. Sometimes one or the other is drunk, or on drugs, or off their meds, or on their period, and things get out of hand. And sometimes there is serious, very real abuse, and sometimes there is serious, very real violence, and rape.
It's known to be one of the most dangerous situations a policeman can walk into. Completely unpredictable, yet so many times the people make up and stay together, and even do it again a week or so later.
The difficulty here is knowing which is which, and what is really going on, and all any of us have to go on is the newspaper reports.
It's not surprising that there would be skepticism, especially with Gallegos leading the charge.
Don't group Theo in with those knuckle dragging neanderthals Greek boy and Mous.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm....and I have to go and write something at least relatively amusing, 'cuz I'm sleepy....
ReplyDeleteJust a thought...not necessarily a good one, but....let's state a "Fact".
No means No. Period, end of discussion, in my opinion, (well except in those wonderfully exceptional experiences where "No means More", but "Pineapple or...*insert safe word here*, REALLY means NO."
I don't believe that anyone in this thread thinks that forced, nonconsensual sex is acceptable. Between casual or comitted partners.
Look at the Law....that, I think is what this is really all about.
If you are having, or want to have nonconsensual forcible sex....be you male or female.....
You are no Daisy at all.
The points made by "Greek Man" and the "Mous" seem to stand, don't they?
Wollf...becoming.....annoyed, I s'pose.
...and how many cases are there where the husband is dead because She couldn't take it anymore?

Funny that you crack wise about that one, because if I was as you put it, drunk enough not to remember what they looked like, then it was rape.
The days of getting so drunk you can't remember who you fucked are now called rapes, but you know that right?
Drunk sex or rape. The newest thing to tie up courts for the next 50 years.
But most you long time readers know that I don't drink.
mousy,
ReplyDeleteDrunk sex or rape. The newest thing to tie up courts for the next 50 years.
drunk sex is not a crime. it is not tying up the courts....
to tell you the truth, i shouldnt assume that a sexually inexperienced person, such as yourself, would know that. do you realize how you sound on these blogs? the way that you talk about women and sex(with anger), tells me that you never get any.....
But most you long time readers know that I don't drink.
long time readers are often baffled at how a sober person could type such trash. is lack of education the excuse? i would have guessed alcohol use myself....
theo, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. You need to wrap duct tape around your mouth to avoid more of your usual foot-in -mouth -atosis.
ReplyDelete2:53,
ReplyDeletei drink. i have an excuse....
Once again, theo is wrong. On all counts.
ReplyDeletemousy,
ReplyDeletedrunk sex is not a crime. thats the only claim ive made. prove me wrong about it.
If it was, there'd be alot of people in trouble especially on New Year's Eve, and maybe Labor Day at the lake...
ReplyDeleteA Date Rape Fact Sheet for Guys
ReplyDeleteAnother area of confusion on the date rape topic is intoxication. Bottom line, if a girl is intoxicated she cannot consent to sex and you could be charged with rape. It does not matter whether you knew she was intoxicated, it doesn’t matter if you were intoxicated too, all that matters is that she was not in a state of mind to consent and therefore it is rape. If you get a girl drunk or high and then “get together” with her you have committed a sexual assault. Again, it doesn’t matter if you are drunk or high as well. Your diminished abilities do not negate your responsibilities. A good rule to follow; if you are under the influence do not have sex. Now say you really had no idea a girl was intoxicated and that she truly appeared to be a willing partner, what then? The reality is that you could still be charged with rape if she is able to prove she was drunk or high.
Guess what our schools and colleges say about it. Drunk sex = Rape. It's being tested in courts right now.
