Who is paying for "Baykeeper's" lawyer?

Who pays for the lawyer? How many lawyers? Who pays the rent on the "shop" in Old Town? Who pays for all the fancy collateral - the signs for the slough, the T-shirts, the handouts, the website? Who pays Pete Sterling-Nichols' salary? How many others are paid?

Many business owners struggle here - many have a hard time paying the rent of those Old Town shops, many cannot afford expensive logo and collateral design, many fishermen struggle, yet the "Baykeeper" has a new Boston Whaler, and a seemingly endless supply of money.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY COME FROM? Who pays for this?

  7. I believe that they are Stephen.Could be wrong though.I've yet to involve myself with the Baykeepers.Last summer when a group of us got together from the Adopt-A Parks program and cleaned up the area next to the Women's Club on J.St(Cooper Canyon I believe is its name)one of our members contacted Pete about working together, since we nor the city have necessary funding to restore the creek which working at full capacity could flow to the bay if a larger storm drain were put in to divert water which regularly floods J.St.Pete explained that the Baykeepers don't involve themselves in matters which they view are unrelated to the bay.He didn't seem to buy our explanation that it indeed was a vital part of it.No attempt to contact was made after that. But we'll be out again cleaning some more once spring comes and hopefully they'll at least make an effort to come with us and see what we're getting at.

  8. He'll only help you if you're useful, Mark. If you just "happened" to be cleaning the drain in an area where he wanted to sue somebody, he'd be your best buddy.

Did you notice where they put their signs? Wasn't out by Mid City.

Like the phony-named "Humboldt Watershed" Council, Baykeeper has it's own "goals" "purpose" "intent" - dare I say "agenda?"

  9. If Baykeeper is a non-profit org, then anyone can ask to see their books:

"On April 8, 1999, the IRS issued T.D. 8818, amending the regulations implementing IRC section 6104 of the Code. The amendments generally require tax-exempt organizations (other than private foundations) to provide copies of certain tax documents to requesting individuals; these tax documents are usually to be provided immediately in the case of in-person requests and within 30 days in the case of written requests. The tax-exempt organization may charge a reasonable copying fee plus actual postage, if any. These new disclosure requirements are in addition to the requirement that tax-exempt organizations must make their tax-documents available for public inspection."
